Pharmacodynamics
The active ingredient benzydamine g / x is classified as a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug with analgesic and anti-exudative effect.
Studies have shown that Tantum Verde exerts a pronounced action to eliminate the painful symptoms that occur during the inflammatory process in the oropharynx. Tantum verde stops the development of the inflammatory process, anesthetizes at the local level.
Pharmacokinetics
The effect of absorption of Tantum Verde components through mucous tissues of the oral cavity and oropharynx was established by measuring the level of benzidine in the blood serum of patients. Approximately two hours after the application of Tantum Verde, the limit content of the drug in serum was 37.8 ng / ml, and the AUC value was 367 ng / ml per hour.
Nevertheless, these indicators are considered insignificant for the systemic effect of the drug.
Excretion is carried out mainly with the urinary fluid - in the form of inactive exchange products, or conjugates.
It was determined that external use of Tantum Verde leads to the accumulation of the active component in the inflamed layers of tissues. This makes it possible to achieve a therapeutically optimal amount of medication.
Dosing and administration
- Tableted candies Tantum Verde is held by the cheek until completely dissolved by 1 pc. Up to four times a day.
- Liquid medication Tantum Verde is used in the amount of one tablespoon (15 ml) for rinsing and mucosal irrigation. Multiplicity of application - every 2-3 hours. Swallowing a medicinal product is not allowed!
- Spray Tantum Verde spray in an amount of 4-8 injections every 2-3 hours. In childhood from six to twelve years, four injections are used four times a day.
The duration of therapy for Tantum Verde is determined individually by the doctor.
Use of the tantum Verde during pregnancy
To date, there is insufficient data on the possibility of taking Tantum Verdah in carrying a child and breastfeeding.
The probability of getting the active ingredient of Tantum Verde in the composition of breast milk was not investigated.
There is information about testing the drug on experimental animals, but this information is extremely inadequate.
Considering the above, experts do not recommend that Tantum Verde should be treated with pregnant and lactating patients.
Contraindications
Any medical form of tantum verde is not advised to appoint:
- throughout the periods of pregnancy and breastfeeding;
- patients of children's age (up to 6 years);
- in phenylketonuria;
- with a tendency to allergic reactions to the composition of the drug.

Side effects of the tantum Verde
Local application of Tantum Verde may be accompanied by such side effects:
- burning sensation in the mouth, thirst;
- allergy;
- phenomena laryngospasm;
- development of photosensitivity of skin and mucous membranes.
It is worth noting that side-effects are very rare and occur after discontinuation of use of the drug.

Overdose
At this time, there have been no reported cases of overdose of Tantum Verde during external application.
There is information that the active ingredient of Tantum Verde when administered orally in large doses (100 times the recommended dosage) can provoke a state of overexcitation, convulsions, shivering in the extremities, dyspepsia, hyperhidrosis, ataxia. In such a situation, urgent gastric lavage, restorative adjustment of the water-electrolyte balance, symptomatic therapy is recommended.
Storage conditions
Tantum Verde is allowed to be stored in dry places, at temperatures from + 15 ° C to + 25 ° C. The medicine should be stored in the original packaging, away from children's access.
