Pharmacodynamics

The active component benzydamine hydrochloride belongs to the category of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs with analgesic and antiexudative effects.

Studies have shown that Tantum Verde has a pronounced effect in eliminating painful symptoms that occur during the inflammatory process in the oropharynx. Tantum Verde stops the development of the inflammatory process, relieves pain locally.

Pharmacokinetics

The effect of absorption of Tantum Verde components through the mucous tissues of the oral cavity and oropharynx was determined by measuring the level of benzydamine in the blood serum of patients. Approximately two hours after application of Tantum Verde, the maximum content of the drug in the blood serum was 37.8 ng / ml, and the AUC value was 367 ng / ml per hour.

However, these values are considered to be insignificant for the systemic effects of the drug.

Excretion occurs primarily with urine – in the form of inactive metabolic products or conjugates.

It was determined that external use of Tantum Verde leads to accumulation of the active component in the inflamed tissue layers. This allows achieving a therapeutically optimal amount of the drug.

Dosing and administration

  • Tantum Verde lozenges are held in the cheek until completely dissolved, 1 piece up to four times a day.
  • The liquid medicine Tantum Verde is used in the amount of one tablespoon (15 ml) for rinsing and irrigation of the mucous membrane. Frequency of use - every 2-3 hours. Do not swallow the external medicine!
  • Spray Tantum Verde in the amount of 4-8 injections every 2-3 hours. In children from six to twelve years old, use 4 injections four times a day.

The duration of therapy with Tantum Verde is determined individually by the doctor.
