Urological drug Tamsulosin.

Indications of the tamsulosin

Tamsulosin is a remedy that is used in urological practice as part of the complex treatment of functional disorders that occur against the background of benign prostatic hyperplasia.

Release form

Tamsulosin is produced in the form of capsules that are characterized by a modified release. Capsules have a yellow-green color, and also small light blotches.

Cardboard pack contains three blister plates, 10 capsules in each plate.

The active drug component of the drug is tamsulosin. One capsule contains 0.4 mg of the active ingredient.

The therapeutic property of tamsulosin is due to the selective competitive relationship with postsynaptic alpha 1- adrenoreceptors. The connection provokes a decrease in the tone of the smooth muscle fibers of the prostate, the neck of the ureter and the prostate site of the urethra, and also the improvement of the passage of the urinary fluid.

After taking Tamsulosin, signs of compression and irritation of the urethra are eased, which were caused by benign prostatic hyperplasia. The medication does not lead to a marked decrease in blood pressure in men with stable cardiovascular performance.

Active ingredient Tamsulosin is absorbed qualitatively in the intestinal cavity. Absorption can be inhibited if the medicine is taken on a full stomach. To evenly release the active ingredient, it is recommended that you take Tamsulosin every morning after eating morning meals.

The drug Tamsulosin belongs to substances with linear kinetic properties. Limit content of medicament in the bloodstream is observed six hours after the standard Tamsulosin. Balance state is detected on the fifth day of treatment, with a limiting serum level of 2/3 more than after taking the first dose.

The amount of tamsulosin in the blood serum of several patients may be different - this applies to the first dose taken and further long-term administration.

The connection with plasma proteins reaches 99%. The distribution volume is relatively small and is about 0.2 l / kg.

Metabolic processes after taking Tamsulosin pass in the liver: metabolites are formed with less pharmacological activity.

Metabolic products and tamsulosin are excreted mainly with urinary fluid (about 9% - in unchanged form).

The duration of the half-life of the drug Tamsulosin can be about ten hours.

Use of the tamsulosin during pregnancy

Tamsulosin is not intended for use by women. This drug is intended solely for the treatment of urological disorders in male patients.

Tamsulosin can not be prescribed:

  • with hypersensitivity to the drug;
  • with orthostatic hypertension;
  • with severe disorders of liver function;
  • female patients;
  • in childhood.

Side effects of the tamsulosin

Among the side effects of Tamsulosin, the most common are:

  • dizziness, headache;
  • increased heart rate.

Other unpleasant symptoms are less common:

  • coryza;
  • indigestion disorder;

There were isolated cases of operational instability of the iris of the eye during surgery performed with cataracts (in patients who had been treated with Tamsulosin for a long time).

Dosing and administration

Typically, adult patients should take one capsule of Tamsulosin every morning, after a morning meal.

Medication Tamsulosin is swallowed in its entirety, by no means crushing the capsule. Drink a medicine is recommended half a glass of water or a dairy product.

To date, there have been no cases of an overdose of Tamsulosin. However, theoretically, there is a possibility of a sharp drop in blood pressure.

If this happens, then it is necessary to direct medical actions to restore the cardiovascular system.

To normalize blood pressure and cardiac activity, the patient should be given a horizontal position. If necessary, it is necessary to make injections of vessels narrowing the vessels, as well as solutions for restoring the volume of circulating blood. At the same time, kidney function is monitored.

Hemodialysis with excessive admission Tamsulosin is considered ineffective.

If a large amount of Tamsulosin was taken relatively recently, then it should be provoked in the patient to vomit. You can wash the stomach and intestines, use laxatives, activated charcoal.

Interactions with other drugs

The joint administration of Tamsulosin and Nifedipine, Enalapril and Atenolol does not lead to drug interactions.

Admission Tamsulosin and cimetidine may cause a slight increase in the level of Tamsulosin in the serum. Reduction of the content of Tamsulosin is observed when administered together with Furosemide.

The free fraction of the medication Tamsulosin in the serum does not change under the action of Diazepam, Diclofenac, Warfarin, Propranolol, Simvastatin, etc.

There was no drug interaction with Salbutamol, Finasteride, Amitriptyline.
