Various parasites in the human body can not only cause discomfort, but also lead to quite serious health problems (loss of strength, nervousness, gastrointestinal diseases). That is why, if you suspect the presence of worms in your body, you need to use special pills against parasites.

Indications for use

Antiparasitic tablets are used in cases of laboratory-diagnosed helminthiasis. This is a whole range of diseases that appear due to ectoparasites, helminths (worms), protozoan organisms. This article will describe effective remedies for helminths.

Helminthiasis is characterized by a rather slow development of symptoms, as well as a very long treatment. Usually, helminthiasis develops after infection with eggs, larvae or cysts of worms. You can get sick through contact with a sick animal, a person with helminthiasis, or by drinking contaminated water or food.

It is worth paying attention that if at least one member of your family has been diagnosed with helminthiasis, all other family members must take antiparasitic tablets as a preventative measure.

Pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics

Let's consider the pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics of antiparasitic tablets using the example of "Pirantel".

The drug component acts primarily on neuromuscular transmission of helminths at early stages of their development. It is worth noting that Pirantel tablets do not act on larvae at the migration stage. It is active against Ancylostoma duodenale, Enterobius vermicularis, Necator americanus, Ascaris lumbricoides, Trichostrongylus colubriformis, Trichostrongylus orientalis.

In the gastrointestinal tract, this drug is almost not absorbed. After the patient has taken the tablet orally, the active substance begins to be metabolized in the liver. The drug is excreted through feces and urine.
