Ceforal Solutab has bactericidal and antibacterial activity.

Indications Ceforal solutab

It is used for the treatment of diseases of an infectious and inflammatory nature and caused by the activity of bacteria that are sensitive to drugs:

  • lesions in the respiratory tract or ENT organs;
  • acute form of gonorrhea, occurring without complications;
  • acute or chronic stages of infections in the area of the urethra.

Release form

The substance is released in the form of dispersible tablets. The box contains 1, 5, and also 7 or 10 tablets.

Pharmacodynamics

The active element of the drug is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic.

The principle of therapeutic action is based on the ability to destroy the processes of binding of peptide glycan, which is the main structural part of the cell membrane of pathogenic bacteria. The drug has resistance to the influence of β-lactamases, and in addition, it demonstrates a bactericidal effect on a large number of gram-negative and -positive microbes.

During clinical trials, Ceforal Solutab demonstrated activity against influenza bacilli, pyogenic streptococcus, Proteus mirabilis, as well as pneumococcus, gonococcus, Escherichia coli and Moraxella catarrhalis.

Microorganisms that die under the influence of drugs:

  • gram-positive – streptococcus agalactiae and pneumococcus;
  • Gram-negative - gonococcus, common proteus, Moraxella catarrhalis, and also influenza bacillus, Proteus mirabilis with Escherichia coli, Citrobacter amalonaticus with Klebsiella oxytoca, Salmonella, Shigella with Providencia, Citrobacter diversus, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Haemophilus parainfluenzae and Pasteurella multocida.

The drug does not affect enterobacteria, pseudomonads, serratia, listeria monocytogenes, clostridia with staphylococci, bacteroides fragilis and enterococci.

Pharmacokinetics

After oral administration, approximately half of the active element is absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract. When taken with food, the absorption time increases by approximately 0.8 hours. After 2-6 hours, serum levels of the antibiotic are approximately 65%.

Almost half of the medicinal component is excreted through the kidneys during the day. The half-life from blood plasma is within 3.5-9 hours.

It should be taken into account that in elderly people, steady-state AUC values are 40% higher than in other categories of patients.

In people with kidney diseases (the CC level is 30 ml/minute), the half-life of the drug is extended to 6 hours. With CC values within 6-20 ml/minute, it is extended to 11.5 hours.

Dosing and administration

The duration of therapy and the size of the portions are selected by the attending medical specialist. After improvements appear, it is necessary to continue taking the tablets for another 2-3 days.

The tablet is taken either by swallowing it whole and washing it down with plain water, or after dissolving it in water. The dissolved medicine must be taken immediately. Taking the medicine is allowed without reference to food intake.

Use of drugs for adults or adolescents over 12 years of age (weight over 50 kg).

The daily dose is usually 400 mg (corresponds to 1 tablet of the drug). The tablet is taken at once or divided into 2 doses.

The therapeutic cycle lasts 7-10 days.

For the treatment of uncomplicated gonorrhea, take 1 tablet of the drug (0.4 g) once.

Children under 12 years of age.

The daily dose is calculated at a ratio of 8 mg/kg. The medicine must be taken once a day. There is also a scheme for taking the drug in a dose of 4 mg/kg 2 times a day - with a 12-hour interval.

For diseases caused by the activity of pyogenic streptococcus, the duration of use of Ceforal Solutab should be at least 10 days.

In case of renal pathologies, when the level of CC is within 21-60 ml/minute, or when the patient undergoes hemodialysis sessions, the daily portion is reduced to 75% of the standard. At CC values below 20 ml/minute, or in patients undergoing peritoneal dialysis procedures, the daily dosage is halved.

Use Ceforal solutab during pregnancy

At present, there is insufficient information regarding the use of Ceforal Solutab during pregnancy. Because of this, it is allowed to be prescribed only for vital indications and after discussing this issue with the attending physician.

  • history of hypersensitivity, epidermal rash or urticaria;
  • BA.

Side effects Ceforal solutab

Taking the pills may cause the following side effects:

  • thrombocytopenia, agranulocytosis, as well as eosinophilia or transient leukopenia;
  • anemia of a hemolytic nature, epidermal necrolysis, feeling of heat, Stevens-Johnson syndrome and erythema;

To eliminate the disorders, gastric lavage is required, as well as symptomatic and supportive measures. The drug has no antidote, and peritoneal dialysis or hemodialysis procedures will be ineffective.

Interactions with other drugs

Probenecid, as well as other substances that block tubular secretion, increase blood levels of the antibiotic and inhibit its excretion, which can lead to intoxication.

Under the influence of the drug, the blood level of carbamazepine may increase. When using Ceforal Solutab together with carbamazepine, it is necessary to monitor the blood levels of the latter.

Furosemide, as well as aminoglycosides, when combined with the drug, increase the load on the kidneys.

The drug should be used with caution in combination with nifedipine or salicylic acid.

When performing the Coombs test during the period of cephalosporin use, a false positive result may occur.

The process of absorption of cefixime in the gastrointestinal tract can be inhibited by magnesium- or aluminum-containing antacids.

The combination of the drug and warfarin or anticoagulants may increase the PTI values, but clinical symptoms (bleeding) are usually not observed.

Tests for sugar levels in urine (this applies to copper sulfate test tablets, as well as Benedict's or Fehling's solutions) do not show reliable data if the patient was taking Ceforal Solutab at the time of their implementation.

Under the influence of drugs, the medicinal effectiveness of estrogens, as well as combined oral contraception, may be weakened.
