Pharmacodynamics
100 g of Soothing Collection No. 3 contains: 25 g herb Leonurus cardiaca, 25 g herb herb Origanum vulgare, 25 g herb Thymus serpyllum, 17 g rhizome and root valerian (radix Valerianae), 8 g of herb grass (herba Melilotus officinalis). Phytodean 3 has the same composition.
The pharmacodynamics of these sedatives is based on the action of these medicinal plants:
- the motherwort herb contains flavonoids and glycosides (quercetin, quinqueloside, rutin, stachydrin), monoterpene glycosides (iridoids), P-coumaric acid, which soothingly act on the body, reduce blood pressure, reduce the heart rate, but at the same time strengthens them, while expanding the coronary vessels;
- sedative effect of oregano is due to a combination of biochemical processes taking place in the body under the influence of substances in its composition, but monoterpene alpha-thujone is especially different, its psychotropic effect resembles the effect of tetrahydrocannabinol (contained in hemp) blocking GABA and serotonergic receptors of the brain;
- in the grass of thyme directly on the central nervous system, mogoterpene alcohols act, in particular, borneol, which lowers the level of blood pressure;
- in the roots of valerian, there is also borneol, whose action on the body is enhanced by boronil-valerianate, valeric and isovaleric acids, as well as by the anxiolytic effect of isovalartrate, which acts as an antagonist of the adenosine A1 receptor reuptake;
- in the clover grass contains oppressive central nervous system coumarins and triterpene glycosides (melilotozide) with antioxidant activity.
