The drug does not have fungicidal or fungistatic properties, which is why it cannot be classified as an antifungal agent.
Sodium tetraborate is also a component of combination drugs used in the treatment of inflammation in the upper respiratory tract.
The medicine, among other things, has an insecticidal effect.
Pharmacokinetics
After application, the medicine is absorbed into the digestive system through the skin and mucous membranes.
Excretion occurs through the intestines and kidneys – within 7 days from the moment of drug administration.

Dosing and administration
The solution is used for treating the skin surface, rinsing, and douching. A more precise method of use depends on the diagnosis. The procedure is usually performed 2-3 times a day.
Children and newborns can use the medicine only with the prescription of the attending pediatrician. Usually, to treat stomatitis in newborns, the mucous membrane is treated using a cotton swab, which is pre-soaked in a medicinal solution. This procedure should be performed 3 times a day. The entire course lasts for 6 days.
When oral candidiasis develops, it is necessary to apply the solution to the areas affected by the fungus. This procedure should be carried out 2-3 times a day. Such a course usually lasts for 3-7 days, depending on the clinical picture.
Before using the medicine to treat thrush, douche with a herbal decoction or plain boiled water. After that, soak a gauze tampon in the solution and insert it into the vagina, leaving it there for about half an hour. The number of procedures depends on how the patient feels. With mild manifestations of the disease, treatment can be performed once a day. If the disease is in the chronic stage, as well as with pronounced manifestations, the solution must be used 2 times a day. This course should last 7 days, and you cannot stop treatment, even if the signs of the disease have disappeared. It is also necessary to take into account that after the tampon has been removed from the vagina, washing is prohibited for some time. While the therapy is being carried out, you need to use neutral soap.
People with tonsillitis need to rinse the tonsils with a solution. This procedure is carried out 4-6 times a day. This course lasts 1 week. To enhance the effect of the drug, it is necessary to rinse using a saline solution of the drug. It can be made independently. The saline solution is prepared as follows: add 1 teaspoon of salt to 1 glass of plain water. Then add a few drops of the drug to this solution. Other ratios of the components are also possible - the attending physician can suggest them.

Reviews
Sodium tetraborate receives mostly positive reviews. Women note that the medicine effectively eliminates thrush, especially if the disease manifests itself in frequent relapses. But it is extremely important to perform the procedure correctly, doing it in accordance with the scheme prescribed by the doctor.
But the use of the solution for children is not so clear-cut. Often parents do not dare to use it because they consider it too toxic. And this should be considered justified.
Shelf life
Sodium tetraborate can be used for 2 years from the date of manufacture of the medicinal solution.
