It is indicated for use in acute rhinitis. It can also be used as an auxiliary medicine in the treatment of inflammation in the paranasal sinuses, as well as otitis. It helps reduce swelling of the mucous membrane during diagnostic procedures.

Release form
Available in the form of drops in 10 ml bottles (a special dropper cap is also included). One package contains 1 bottle.
Pharmacodynamics
Naphazoline is a substance that stimulates the function of the sympathetic nervous system and also affects α-adrenergic receptors. Vasoconstrictive properties help reduce swelling, exudation and hyperemia, which makes breathing through the nose easier during runny noses.
Thanks to the active component of the medicine, the excretory ducts of the paranasal sinuses and the Eustachian tubes open and expand, as a result of which the removal of secretions improves and the process of bacterial sedimentation is prevented.
Pharmacokinetics
When used locally, the substance is completely absorbed. The medicinal effect after intranasal administration occurs in about 5 minutes and lasts for about 4-6 hours.
Dosing and administration
For children aged 3-6 years, the dosage is 1-2 drops in each nostril, at the age of 6-15 years - 2 drops, for children aged 15 years and older and adult patients - 1-3 drops. The medicine should be administered three times a day with an interval of at least 4 hours between procedures. If relief of the nasal breathing process is observed, treatment can be stopped. Repeated use of drops is allowed only after several days.
When diagnosing the nasal cavity using endoscopy (for example, when diagnosing and treating nasal polyps), you need to instill 3-4 drops into each nostril after the procedure of cleaning the nose. Or place a cotton swab treated with a solution of the medicine in the nostril and hold it for about 2-3 minutes.
In case of nosebleeds, a cotton swab treated with Sanorin should also be inserted into the nostril.
In case of swelling of the vocal cords, a laryngeal syringe is used, with which 1-2 ml of medicine is injected into the throat.
The medicine should be instilled into each nostril in turn, slightly tilting the head back. Also, when instilling the left opening, it is recommended to tilt the head slightly to the left, and when instilling the right opening, to the right.

Side effects Sanorin
Patients with individual intolerance to the components of the drug may feel a burning sensation in the nose, as well as dryness of the nasal mucosa. In isolated cases, patients experience a feeling of severe nasal congestion.
Rarely, systemic side effects may develop (mainly due to overdose):
- immune system organs: allergies (burning, angioedema);
- nervous system organs: headaches, development of nervousness or tremors;
- cardiovascular system: increased heart rate or tachycardia;
- vascular system: increased blood pressure;
- Skin and subcutaneous tissue: increased sweating.
Long-term (more than 5 days for adults or more than 3 days for children) or frequent use of the drug can cause addiction, which can lead to severe swelling of the nasal mucosa (appears soon after the drops are administered).
Long-term intranasal administration of the drug can cause damage to the mucosal epithelium, and in addition, inhibition of the activity of epithelial cilia. As a result, the damage to the mucosa will become irreversible, and the patient will develop a dry runny nose.
Overdose
As a result of accidental oral administration of the drug or overdose, the following systemic side effects are possible: increased sweating, a feeling of nervousness, and in addition headaches, heart palpitations, tremors, as well as increased blood pressure and tachycardia. In addition, nausea, increased temperature, cyanosis, pulmonary edema, cardiac arrest, the appearance of spasms, respiratory distress, heart attack and paleness of the skin may be observed.
Depression of the central nervous system function manifests itself in the form of the following symptoms: decreased temperature, increased sweating, bradycardia, shock (similar to hypotensive), apnea, drowsiness, and coma. The probability of overdose is higher in children, as they are more susceptible to the negative effects of drugs.
Symptomatic therapy is required to eliminate these symptoms.
