Pharmacodynamics
Since the constituent elements of Raunatin are the alkaloids of rauwolfia, it has a powerful antiarrhythmic and antihypertensive effect. The drug has a positive effect on the health of people who have a pathological increase in blood pressure (in both mild and moderate forms).
It should be noted that the sedative effect of the drug is less pronounced than its antihypertensive and antiarrhythmic properties. But compared to the substance reserpine, the drug is usually better tolerated, although a noticeable antihypertensive effect appears slower.
Pharmacokinetics
About 40% of the drug is absorbed inside the digestive tract after oral administration of the drug. Peak plasma values reach after 1 to 3 hours.
Approximately 40% of the drug is exposed to protein synthesis in plasma. A small part of Raunatin undergoes a metabolism in which the small intestinal mucosa participates. Through it, the medicine is absorbed into the bloodstream, and then, after 24 hours, passes through the kidneys. The greater part of the drug is involved in the metabolic processes that take place inside the liver - their participants are also hydrolytic and oxidant enzymes.
The half-life lasts 50-170 hours. At the same time, the excretion of the drug is rather slow, and is carried out with urine - mostly in the form of metabolic degradation products. Unchanged excreted less than 1% of the drug. Over a period of 96 hours approximately 40% of the active substance is excreted unchanged.
Dosing and administration
Use Raunatinum after taking meals. To avoid a possible negative impact on the patient's health, it is necessary to strictly comply with the drug use regimen, and at the same time use it only in designated portions. For the first day it is required to take a 1-well pill - in the evening, before bed (this is 2 mg of the active ingredient).
On the 2nd day, 2 tablets are taken in 2 doses, and on the 3rd day - 3 tablets in 3 doses. Thus, the portion should be gradually increased to 6 tablets. After the expiration of 2 weeks of the course with the maximum dosage, it is gradually reduced to a maximum of 2 tablets per day.
Use of the raunatin during pregnancy
Raunatinum is not allowed on the 3rd trimester.
Contraindications
Among the contraindications:

- patients younger than 18 years of age;
- coronary insufficiency;
