Each tablet contains 300 milligrams of paracetamol, chlorpheniramine maleate, phenylephrine hydrochloride, and caffeine – 2 mg, 5 mg, and 16 mg of each of these ingredients, respectively.

Pharmacokinetics

Just like the pharmacological characteristics of the drug, the pharmacokinetics of Radicold Plus are characterized by the pharmacokinetic properties of each of the active ingredients included in its composition.

With regard to, first of all, the main one – paracetamol, it is necessary to note that in the upper gastrointestinal tract, its absorption is almost complete (in 95 percent quantity) within a very short time. The course of treatment with the drug should not be longer than 1 week.

Use Radicold Plus during pregnancy

It is not recommended to use Radicold Plus during pregnancy, as well as during lactation and breastfeeding.

Contraindications

Contraindications to the use of Radicold Plus may be caused by the existence of an individual hypersensitivity to any of the components of this complex drug in a particular patient. In addition, this medication is incompatible with a number of different diseases.

It also implies that it is not suitable for use by children under 12 years of age.

Interactions with other drugs

When considering the interaction of Radicold Plus with other drugs, it should be noted immediately that it is not recommended to prescribe it together with any other paracetamol-containing medication.

Under the influence of paracetamol, there is an increase in the effect produced by indirect anticoagulants, and the risk of liver damage from drugs with hepatotoxic properties - barbiturates, ethanol, rifampicin and phenytoin - also increases.

The rate at which paracetamol is absorbed is influenced by cholestyramine and metoclopramide. While the former is a factor that slows down this process, the latter, on the contrary, can help reduce the time required for this.

Chloramphenicol in combination with paracetamol acquires more pronounced toxic properties.

The caffeine content in Radicold Plus reduces the effect of narcotic and sleeping pills when combined with this medication. On the other hand, caffeine has the opposite effect on paracetamol and acetylsalicylic acid, enhancing their effect. It also helps ergotamine to be better absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract.

Chlorpheniramine can lead to an increase in the sedative effect produced by central nervous system depressants - barbiturates, ethanol, sleeping pills, tranquilizers, narcotic analgesics. Tricyclic antidepressants and atropine also have a more pronounced effect on it.

Phenylephrine interacts with guanethidine, reserpine, and methyldopa and can demonstrate a stronger effect.

The interactions of Radicold Plus with other drugs are thus characterized by the features of the combined effect that occurs in combinations formed by each of its main components with other drugs included with it in complex therapy.
