Low blood pressure is very common nowadays, regardless of age. With low blood pressure, symptoms such as constant fatigue, drowsiness, impaired concentration, dizziness and headaches prevent you from working and doing household chores. What should you do if low blood pressure bothers you often, but you don’t want to take medications? Are there special herbs that increase blood pressure?
Of course, there are such herbs, and there are quite a lot of them. In this article, we will try to figure out which plants will help improve the condition with hypotension, and which will not.
Herbs that increase blood pressure will help solve the problem of hypotension. In addition to herbs, you should also stick to a certain diet, walk in the fresh air often, and it is recommended to do breathing exercises.
Low blood pressure is a fairly common condition, especially in young women. In medicine, this disorder is called hypotension or hypotension.
People suffering from low blood pressure experience lethargy, drowsiness, apathy, headaches. Hypotonics often suffer from shortness of breath, dizziness, loss of consciousness, and darkening of the eyes.
Nutrition for low blood pressure should be correct, it is best to drink weak tea or coffee for breakfast. With hypotension, the diet must include fruits, vegetables, fresh herbs. It is recommended to eat 4 times a day, you can not overeat, as this leads to drowsiness and increased fatigue.
Salt should be present in reasonable doses, preference should be given to sea salt, rich in iodine, potassium, magnesium. It is necessary to include in your diet fermented milk products, protein foods (meat, fish), freshly squeezed juices.
If you have low blood pressure, you should sleep at least 8 hours. Often, people with low blood pressure need more time to rest than people with high blood pressure and people with normal blood pressure. It is recommended to rest during the day if possible.
Pressure usually drops to critical levels at night. If you feel unwell, it is recommended to monitor your pressure. Before going to bed, it is useful to drink a glass of yogurt or sweet tea.
Treatment of low blood pressure with herbs
Low blood pressure is recommended to be treated with herbs for almost everyone. However, before using herbs, it is necessary to take into account the existing contraindications that are inherent in each plant.
Herbs that increase blood pressure can be used as the main treatment at the beginning of hypotension. In severe cases, herbal medicine can be added to the main treatment.
To increase blood pressure, tincture or extract of Eleutherococcus is used with herbs, which has a tonic effect and normalizes blood pressure.
As a rule, Eleutherococcus is prescribed for a course of at least 30 days.
Take 20-30 drops of the extract in the morning or at lunch. Fumitory tincture is good for raising blood pressure. To prepare a medicinal infusion, you will need 2 teaspoons of the herb, which are poured with 400 ml of cold water. The mixture must be infused for 8 hours, then strained and consumed 50-70 ml 4 times a day (before meals).
Indications for the use of herbs to increase blood pressure
Herbs that increase blood pressure are used in hypotonic conditions.
Hypotension is accompanied by a drop in blood pressure and a weak pulse. If the blood pressure is below 100/60 mm Hg, we can already talk about hypotension. But low blood pressure is not always a sign of hypotension, since there are people for whom low blood pressure is “working” and they do not experience symptoms typical of hypotension (dizziness, weakness, etc.). In this case, there is no need to take blood pressure-lowering drugs.
With hypotension, lethargy, depression, general malaise appear, a person begins to suffer from headaches, darkening of the eyes, dizziness, fainting. In this condition, it is recommended to take special drugs or herbs to increase blood pressure.

What herbs increase blood pressure?
Many people prefer to use herbs as a natural remedy for treating illnesses, ranging from a common cold to serious ailments. Plants are considered safer than medications with a lot of side effects and warnings. To some extent, this is true, but we should not forget that herbal remedies should also be taken with caution. After all, the effects of herbs are varied, and this must be taken into account. Some plants increase blood pressure, others lower it.
What herbs increase blood pressure? First of all, these are plants with neurostimulating properties: ginseng root, leuzea, zamaniha, aralia, sterculia, saparal, etc.
Leuzea extract is used 25 drops up to 3 times a day.
The tincture of the zamanikha is used 25 drops 2 to 3 times a day before meals.
Saparal is used for hypotension after meals, 0.05 g after breakfast and lunch.
It is not recommended to drink herbs that increase blood pressure in the evening, as this can cause sleep disturbances.
If you prefer to take herbs in a course, the duration of such treatment can be 14-28 days. After that, you need to take a break or change the medicinal plant to another (to prevent addiction).
Traditional herbal treatments are considered the safest. However, even the most harmless herbs can be harmful to health if used excessively or incorrectly.
Herbs that increase blood pressure can be used both separately and as part of herbal mixtures.
The following mixture helps to increase blood pressure: take 1 tablespoon of St. John's wort, strawberry leaves, juniper berries, chicory flowers, yarrow herb, and rose hips and mix well. Pour 600 ml of hot water over 3 tablespoons of the resulting mixture and leave in a thermos (or a well-wrapped jar, teapot, etc.) for at least one hour. Take 100-150 ml of the resulting tincture 15-20 minutes before meals three times a day. You can also add young mint, raspberry, or currant leaves to the mixture, which will fill it with vitamins.
You can use ready-made herbal tinctures that are sold in pharmacies: ginseng extract, lemongrass, aralia, etc.
Tinctures of betony, mountain beetle, zamaniha, tansy, rosemary, sandy immortelle, field horsetail, tea bush, grapes, bryony, and eleutherococcus are also used to increase blood pressure.
Method of administration and dosage
Herbs that increase blood pressure can be taken in several ways:
- decoctions (dry grass is poured with hot water and boiled for 10-20 minutes, after cooling the decoction is ready for use). Decoctions are taken from 1 to 3 glasses per day.
- water or alcohol tinctures.
To prepare a tincture on water, pour 1-2 tablespoons of the herb into 200 ml of hot water and let it brew for 20 to 60 minutes. Such tinctures are taken from 50 to 200 ml three times a day.
Alcohol tinctures are prepared on the basis of alcohol or vodka. To prepare a medicinal tincture, you need to pour dry grass with alcohol (vodka) and let it brew for 2 to 7 days. To take an alcohol tincture, you can dissolve 15-30 drops in water or drink it in its pure form.
There are also ready-made herbal preparations containing plant extract (alcohol tinctures, syrups, tablets). Such preparations must be taken strictly according to the instructions, without exceeding the dosage prescribed by the doctor or the recommended dosage.

Interactions with other drugs
Herbs that increase blood pressure have a stimulating effect on the central nervous system, so when CNS stimulants and analeptics are used simultaneously, the therapeutic effect is enhanced. Herbs to increase blood pressure should not be used with drugs that depress the central nervous system (in particular, tranquilizers, barbiturates, antiepileptic drugs). Herbs can also enhance the effect of hypoglycemic drugs.

Using lemongrass to increase blood pressure
Schisandra is a well-known natural remedy for increasing blood pressure. Tinctures and infusions of the plant are actively used to improve the condition in case of hypotension, as well as in case of a sharp drop in pressure. Schisandra reduces the number of heart contractions, increases breathing and dilates blood vessels. After taking preparations based on Schisandra, an increase in motor activity and reflex excitability is observed, drowsiness and fatigue, both physical and mental, are eliminated.
Schisandra increases blood pressure and is considered an effective drug for asthenia and asthenodepression, which occur against the background of increased fatigue, decreased performance, drowsiness, and irritability. After using Schisandra, an increase in visual acuity is noted, and visual functions at night improve.
Schisandra preparations have virtually no side effects. However, since Schisandra is considered a stimulating plant, it should be taken only after doctor's orders, because an incorrectly calculated dose may cause excessive excitation of the heart and blood vessels. Schisandra is also not recommended for people suffering from hypertension and insomnia.

Eleutherococcus to increase blood pressure
Eleutherococcus extract is a common remedy used to improve mental performance and reduce physical fatigue. The use of eleutherococcus is accompanied by an improvement in the well-being of patients, a decrease in cholesterol levels (which is especially important for atherosclerosis), and an increase in immune strength. Thanks to eleutherococcus, even visual and auditory functions improve.
It has been proven that intravenous administration of the Eleutherococcus preparation can cause a sharp but slight decrease in blood pressure. In this case, the condition normalizes within one to two minutes.
Taking Eleutherococcus internally, on the contrary, helps stimulate the nervous system and increase blood pressure. For this purpose, it is recommended to use Eleutherococcus extract on an alcohol basis. The dosage of the drug to increase blood pressure and performance is 25 drops up to 3 times a day. Duration of treatment is up to 1 month. The drug is not recommended for use by pregnant women.

Hibiscus to increase blood pressure
Hibiscus, or the well-known red hibiscus tea, is a tonic drink with many useful properties. The drink helps strengthen vascular walls, normalize blood pressure, stabilize cholesterol levels and the digestive system. Hibiscus helps with intoxication, including alcohol.
Regular consumption of this tea restores the level of vitamins and minerals in the body: hibiscus is an effective way to combat anemia and hypovitaminosis.
This truly unique drink has a virtually universal effect. If you drink freshly brewed hibiscus hot, it can help raise blood pressure. Drinking a cold or room temperature drink can help with hypertension - it will lower the pressure to normal levels.
The best effect from hibiscus tea is observed when drinking this drink for 4-6 weeks.
Using Ginseng to Increase Blood Pressure
Of course, ginseng is one of the leading stimulants of the nervous system, along with caffeine. Ginseng preparations enhance excitation processes in the brain, which helps to increase performance and reduce fatigue during physical and stressful workload.
Does ginseng increase blood pressure? Yes, it does. Ginseng significantly improves the condition of hypotensive patients, eliminating headaches associated with low blood pressure, adding strength and endurance to continue the working day or training.
Some studies have proven the fact that ginseng is capable of not only increasing blood pressure, but also decreasing it in a state of hypertension. Thus, some experts are inclined to believe that ginseng-based products are aimed at stabilizing blood pressure at any of its values, in one direction or another. However, ginseng, consumed in large doses, is definitely capable of increasing blood pressure at any values.
Typically, ginseng tincture is taken before meals, 15-25 drops 2 to 3 times a day.

Bearberry herb to increase blood pressure
Bearberry, popularly known as bear ears, has been used by traditional healers for a long time. The plant contains organic acids, tannins, essential oils, etc. Bearberry has long been used as an anti-inflammatory and diuretic. Arbutin, which is present in the composition of arsenium, breaks down into hydroquinone and glucose when it enters the body, which is what causes the therapeutic effect of the plant.
Bearberry is added to many medicinal mixtures. The plant is mainly used to treat cystitis, prostatitis, mild kidney diseases, and less often to normalize blood pressure. In folk medicine, bearberry leaves are used primarily to treat nervous diseases and high blood pressure.
Herbs that increase blood pressure should usually be used for a long period of time (at least a month) to achieve the desired effect. The basis of hypotension treatment is the use of tonic drugs, physical activity, and adequate rest. Using herbs to normalize blood pressure helps eliminate severe manifestations of hypotension, such as lethargy, apathy, decreased performance, headaches, etc.
