Fenotek is an antianemic drug. Contains iron together with multivitamin elements.

Indications Fenoteca

It is used to treat various types of iron deficiency anemia. Latent iron deficiency caused by excessive iron loss (due to blood loss (e.g. due to hypermenorrhea) or constant donation) or by the body's increased need to obtain it (during lactation or pregnancy, for the elderly, with poor nutrition, and also during recovery after operations or serious illnesses).

Release form

The product is sold in capsules - there are 10 pieces in a blister pack. There are 2 such packs in a box.

Pharmacodynamics

Fenotek is a combined antianemic agent. Its medicinal effect is due to the therapeutic properties of its active components.

Ferrous sulfate – iron contained in hemoglobin helps transport oxygen into tissues. Adequate iron is required to ensure effective erythropoiesis.

Vitamin C is a participant in biological oxidation-reduction processes. It is required for the formation of hemoglobin, erythrocyte maturation and the implementation of metabolic processes associated with folic acid. At the same time, it enhances the absorption of iron in the gastrointestinal tract, stabilizes carbohydrate metabolism and the blood clotting process, and strengthens the strength of capillary walls.

Riboflavin helps to stabilize oxidation-reduction processes, which are required for the normal functioning of the visual organs, and at the same time is a participant in the binding of hemoglobin.

Thiamine mononitrate is an element preceding cocarboxylase (a coenzyme involved in many biochemical processes). It is used for protein, fat, and carbohydrate metabolism.

Nicotinamide is involved in tissue respiratory processes, as well as in the metabolism of carbohydrates and fats.

Pyridoxine hydrochloride is a coenzyme of many different enzymes. It promotes the binding of ΔALA (the first stage of binding of components that form hemes).

Pantothenate is a component of coenzyme A, helps the processes of carbohydrate and fat metabolism, activates metabolic activity, and also promotes energy metabolism and healing processes.

Pharmacokinetics

Plasma Cmax values after oral administration of the drug are noted after 60-120 minutes. Equilibrium iron levels in the blood continue to be maintained for 12 hours.

Dosing and administration

The medication can be taken by teenagers aged 16 and over and adults.

To prevent the development of vitamin and iron deficiency states, the medication is taken in a dose of 1 capsule, once a day, for 1 month (this is necessary to obtain equilibrium serum values of the drug).

When treating IDA, take 1-2 capsules of the drug twice a day. The therapy lasts for 1-3 months.

The first control analysis of blood parameters can be carried out after 25-30 days from the start of therapy.

In order to improve clinical and laboratory data and consolidate the therapeutic effect, it is recommended to carry out another treatment cycle after several months.

The capsules should be taken before meals (approximately 30-40 minutes), swallowed whole, washed down with water. No deterioration in the absorption processes of the drug is observed when taken with or after food.

Therapy using Fenotek is recommended to be performed with periodic monitoring of the clinical situation and laboratory data. Also, before starting the treatment cycle, it is necessary to establish the cause of the development of anemia.

Contraindications

Main contraindications:

  • the presence of intolerance to medicinal elements;
  • diseases in which iron accumulation is recorded within the body (thalassemia, hemolytic and aplastic anemia, and also hemochromatosis with hemosiderosis);
  • problems with the absorption of iron by the body (sideroachrestic anemia, lead-type anemia, and also cyanocobalamin deficiency);
  • anemia that does not develop due to iron deficiency.

Side effects Fenoteca

Taking capsules may cause allergy symptoms and signs of dyspepsia. Side effects affecting the gastrointestinal tract develop due to the technological features used in the manufacture of drugs. If they develop in a patient, the drug should be taken after eating.

In case of individual hypersensitivity to any element of the drug, it is necessary to stop taking it.

Overdose

Symptoms of acute iron intoxication include weakened capillaries, decreased blood plasma volumes, and increased cardiac output.

To eliminate the disorders, gastric and intestinal lavage is required, as well as prescribing laxatives with complexones to the patient.

Interactions with other drugs

Antacids and tetracycline antibiotics reduce the degree of iron absorption, which is why it is recommended not to combine them with the medication.

It is prohibited to combine Fenotek with other multivitamin medications.
