Pharmasulin is a medicinal product that has a strong hypoglycemic effect.
Indications Pharmasulin
The use of Pharmasulin N is prescribed in the process of treating diabetes mellitus in situations where it is necessary to maintain a normal blood sugar level in the plasma using insulin. In addition, Pharmasulin N is often prescribed as a drug at the initial stage of treating insulin-dependent diabetes, and in addition to this, to pregnant women suffering from diabetes mellitus.
Pharmasulin group H NP or H 30/70 is used for the treatment of type 1 diabetes mellitus, as well as type 2, if diet together with oral hypoglycemic drugs have not produced the desired result.
Release form
Farmasulin is available in glass bottles with a capacity of 5 or 10 ml. One package contains 1 bottle. It is also available in the form of glass cartridges with a capacity of 3 ml. One package contains 5 cartridges.
Pharmacodynamics
The active component of Pharmasulin is insulin, which is responsible for regulating the glucose metabolism process. In addition, this substance also affects various anti-catabolic and, together with them, anabolic processes occurring in tissues. In addition, insulin promotes the enhancement of the process of glycerol formation, as well as fatty acids, proteins, and glycogen in muscle tissue and accelerates the absorption of amino acids. The property of insulin is that it reduces the rate of glycogen breakdown, the formation of ketone bodies, and, in addition, lipolysis, neoglucogenesis and the process of amino acid catabolism together with proteins.
Pharmacokinetics
After a subcutaneous injection of Pharmasulin N, the development of the therapeutic effect on the body begins after half an hour. The duration of the drug's action is 5-7 hours. The peak concentration in the blood plasma is reached 1-3 hours after the procedure.
When Farmasulin H NP is administered, the maximum concentration of insulin in plasma is achieved after 2-8 hours. The development of the therapeutic effect begins 1 hour after the procedure of drug administration and continues for the next 18-24 hours.
In case of administration of Pharmasulin H 30/70, 30-60 minutes are required for the development of the therapeutic effect. Its total duration is 14-15 hours, but in some patients it reaches even 24 hours. In this case, the maximum concentration of insulin is reached 1-8.5 hours after administration of the drug.
Dosing and administration
The medicine is used for intravenous administration or subcutaneous injections. Intramuscular administration of the drug is also allowed, but the first two options are more preferable. The schedule for administering the drug, as well as the dosage, is prescribed by a doctor, depending on the clinical situation of an individual patient. Subcutaneously, the drug is best administered in the thigh or buttock, shoulder or abdomen. Injections should be performed in the same place no more than 1 time per month. When performing the procedure, you must ensure that the solution does not penetrate into the vascular cavity. The injection site must not be rubbed.
Use Pharmasulin during pregnancy
It is usually allowed to use Farmasulin during pregnancy, but it is necessary to take into account that in this case it is necessary to approach the selection of insulin dosage more carefully, because a woman in this condition may have a change in the need for this substance. Therefore, in case of pregnancy or at the stage of its planning, it is necessary to consult a doctor. During this period, it is necessary to carefully monitor the level of sugar in the blood plasma.
Contraindications
Pharmasulin is prohibited to be prescribed to patients with hypersensitivity to the drug components. It is also contraindicated in case of hypoglycemia.
The drug should be prescribed with caution to patients with long-term diabetes or diabetic neuropathy, as well as to patients taking β-blockers, because in these cases the manifestations of hypoglycemia may change or be mild.
Side effects Pharmasulin
During treatment with Farmasulin, the most common side effects are hypoglycemia, which can cause loss of consciousness and even death. Hypoglycemia mainly develops as a result of insulin administration in excess dosage, skipping meals, increased physical activity, or alcohol consumption. To avoid this effect, you must administer the medicine strictly according to the doctor's instructions, and also follow the prescribed diet.
Long-term use of the drug may cause hypertrophy or atrophy of the fat layer under the skin at the injection site, as well as insulin resistance syndrome. Hypersensitivity reactions may also occur, such as decreased blood pressure, bronchial spasms, urticaria, and increased sweating.
If side effects occur, you should consult a specialist, because certain reactions may require discontinuing the use of the drug and undergoing special treatment.

Overdose
In case of overdose of the drug, a severe form of hypoglycemia may develop. Due to a sharp change in the regime of physical activity or nutrition, the body's need for insulin may decrease, and this can lead to an overdose occurring even with the introduction of a standard dosage. Its symptoms are loss of consciousness, the appearance of tremors, and increased sweating.
Oral administration of glucose (sugar or sweet tea) is used as treatment. If the overdose is severe, a solution of glucose (40%) should be administered intravenously or 1 mg of glucagon intramuscularly. If these manipulations do not bring any effect in the case of severe overdose, GCS or mannitol should be administered to prevent cerebral edema.
Storage conditions
The medicine in a sealed form should be kept at a temperature of 2-8 degrees. The medicine in an unopened bottle or cartridge should be kept at room temperature, in a place protected from the sun.
Shelf life
Farmasulin can be stored for 2 years. After opening the bottle or cartridge – no more than 28 days.
