Pedex is a medicine that affects the activity of ectoparasites, including scabies mites. The medicine has acaricidal and insecticidal properties, is used externally, and has an effect on a relatively large number of insects (including, for example, fleas with lice and ticks (including scabies)). The medicine inhibits the development of larvae with nits and adult lice, and also causes their death.
The component permethrin has low toxicity when applied to warm-blooded animals or humans.
Indications Pedexa
Used for pediculosis.
[ 1 ]
Pharmacodynamics
The element permethrin is a combination of trans- and cis-isomers of an artificial pyrethroid.
The antiparasitic effect develops when the permeability of ions is impaired by acting on Na channels, as well as when the processes of repolarization and polarization of the walls of the parasite's nerve cell are slowed down, resulting in a paralyzing effect.
Pharmacokinetics
After application of the drug to the epidermis, the absorption of the component is a maximum of 2%. The part that penetrates the circulatory system is hydrolyzed at high speed with transformation into inactive metabolic components.
Excretion occurs mainly in urine.
After a single treatment of areas affected by pediculosis, the therapeutic effect continues for 2-3 weeks to 1.5 months.
Dosing and administration
It is necessary to treat the hair with the solution, rubbing it into the roots; a cotton swab is used for this. The procedure requires about 25-50 ml of the medicine (taking into account the thickness and length of the patient's hair).
After the treatment, you need to tie your head with a scarf. After 40 minutes, wash off the substance under running warm water, using shampoo or soap. The washed hair must be combed using a special fine comb designed to comb out dead nits and lice.
If live lice are detected after 1 week from the moment of using the drug, another treatment is required.

Side effects Pedexa
Sometimes an irritating effect on the epidermis may be observed (tingling, burning or pinching sensation, rash, increased itching and swelling).
Storage conditions
Pedex should be stored in a dark and dry place, out of the reach of small children. Temperature marks are within 25°C.
[ 5 ]
Shelf life
Pedex can be used for a period of 24 months from the date of manufacture of the medicine.

Application for children
Not for use in infants under 2 months of age.
Analogues
Analogues of the drug are Nittifor, Spregal, Permethrin with Permin, as well as Para Plus, Spray-pax, Pedilin with Permethrin ointment and Higia.
Reviews
Pedex is considered to be a fairly effective medication that quickly copes with the task of destroying lice.
Among the disadvantages of the drug, reviews note the relative inconvenience of use - treating the head with the solution using cotton swabs or pads is more inconvenient than using, for example, shampoo.
