Pectolvan Ivy is a medicinal preparation of plant origin. The active therapeutic component of the drug is a dry medicinal extract obtained from the leaf of this plant. It is used for severe cough or cold.

The medicine has moderate antispasmodic properties, and in addition, strong mucolytic activity. Along with this, the medicine has a significant anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial effect on the human body.

Indications Ivy pectolvana

The syrup is used to treat inflammatory diseases affecting the respiratory tract (during such diseases the patient develops a cough).

Along with this, it is used to eliminate the symptoms of the disease in chronic bronchial lesions (inflammatory nature). In addition, the medicine is prescribed for dry cough.

Release form

The component is released in the form of syrup, inside 0.1 l bottles. The box also contains a dosing spoon.

Pharmacodynamics

The medicine demonstrates secretolytic activity under the influence of saponins (glycosides). The action of the syrup allows to gradually reduce the viscosity of sputum and improve its subsequent discharge.

Pectolvan Ivy stimulates adrenergic activity by acting on β2-terminals inside the pulmonary epithelium and bronchial myocytes. As a result, Ca2+ ion levels inside bronchial muscle cells decrease, which leads to relaxation of the bronchi.

At the same time, due to the activation of β2-endings, surfactant production increases inside the alveolar cells of the pulmonary epithelium. The drug does not have a suppressive effect on central respiratory regulation.

Dosing and administration

The medicinal syrup must be taken orally. Before each use, shake the bottle with the liquid, and use a dosing spoon to consume the substance.

The following doses of the medicine are used:

  • 1-6 years of age – 2.5 ml of the drug 3 times a day;
  • 6-10 years of age – 5 ml of medication 3 times a day;
  • children over 10 years of age and adults – 5-7.5 ml of medicine 3 times a day.

The duration of use of the drug is determined by the severity of the patient's condition and the individual severity of the disease. Usually, therapy lasts at least 7 days.

To obtain a stable result, the therapy is sometimes prolonged for another 2-3 days. If there is no improvement after the completed treatment cycle, it is necessary to consult with the attending physician.

Use Ivy pectolvana during pregnancy

It is prohibited to prescribe Pectolvan Ivy during pregnancy or breastfeeding, because there is no reliable clinical information regarding its safety.
