Panthenol spray is a medicine with local anti-inflammatory and dermatoprotective effects. It replenishes the lack of vitamin B5 and stimulates healing processes.
Indications Panthenol spray
It is used in the following situations:
- to accelerate epithelialization and regeneration of the skin after microtraumas or skin grafts, as well as in case of irritation (for example, due to the effects of radio- or phototherapy and UV rays), erosions of the cervix, bedsores, cracks in the anal area and chronic skin ulcers;
- for the treatment of minor burns;
- to eliminate cracking and roughness of the skin or to prevent these disorders;
- as a preventative measure for treating the mammary glands of mothers during lactation, and in addition to this, to relieve irritation in the nipple area and eliminate cracks that form on them;
- continuous treatment of the skin in infants and therapy for erythema glutealis (the so-called diaper dermatitis);
- treatment of the skin surface in people using a local form of GCS (or after their use).
Release form
It is released in the form of a spray in 130 g cans. There is 1 such can in a pack.
Pharmacodynamics
Dexpanthenol is an alcohol analogue of vitamin B5, which, after biotransformation in the body, has the same effect as pantothenate itself.
After getting on the skin surface, the active component is quickly absorbed into the tissues, transforming into its active form – vitamin B5 (a substance from the water-soluble group). This element is a component of the specific coenzyme CoA – the main regulator of metabolic processes (fat, protein, carbohydrate, phospholipid metabolism and fatty acid metabolism, as well as the citrate cycle, etc.). It promotes the processes of corticosteroid formation and acetylation of the choline element.
Pantothenic acid with dexpanthenol, as well as their anhydrous salts, are water-soluble vitamins. These elements are active participants in carbohydrate, fat, and energy metabolism and are extremely important in the performance of acetylation and oxidation processes.
During metabolic processes, this component interacts with vitamins of category B. It promotes the formation of epithelial tissues and helps their stable function. In addition, it reduces itching and has a weak anti-inflammatory effect.
After local treatment, the medicine compensates for the increased need for pantothenate in the damaged area of the skin or mucous membranes.
Pharmacokinetics
The active ingredient is absorbed into the skin.
In a healthy adult, after local use of the drug, the level of pantothenate in the blood reaches 0.5-1 mg/ml, and in the blood serum – 0.1 mg/ml.
The active element is not metabolized within the body (except for entering the CoA system). Approximately ⅔ of the unchanged pantothenate that enters the body (about 70%) is excreted through the kidneys, and the remainder is excreted with feces.

Dosing and administration
The spray is used once (or several times, if necessary) per day, evenly treating the affected area of skin (it should be completely covered with foam). The can should be held at a distance of 10-20 cm.
The duration of the course is determined by the severity of the pathology being treated.
In case of burns, the spray should be used no more than 6 times a day. To eliminate wounds, the medicine is applied to the affected area in a thin film - the procedure is carried out 1-5 times a day.
When spraying the medicine, the canister should be positioned vertically, with the valve facing up. For better application of the medicine, shake the canister before each use (especially if it has not been used for a long time).
When using the spray for the first time, you should expect that at first, before the foam appears, the spray will be produced in the form of a propellant.
If you need to use the medicine to treat your face, you need to spray the spray onto your hand and then apply the foam to the affected area of skin.
During the treatment of minor burns (1-2 degrees), Panthenol in spray form is most suitable at the initial stages of the treatment course. The burned part of the skin must be treated immediately after the injury, and then use the spray as needed (approximately 1-4 procedures per day are required).
Before using the spray to treat the wound surface, you must first disinfect the area.
Use Panthenol spray during pregnancy
If indicated, Panthenol spray can be used by pregnant women (at any stage) and by nursing women.
Contraindications
Contraindication is hypersensitivity to dexpanthenol or additional elements contained in the drug.
Interactions with other drugs
In case of treatment of the anal area or genitals with Panthenol spray, the strength of condoms may decrease when used. This happens due to the fact that this form of the drug contains mineral oil.

Reviews
Panthenol spray is a universal remedy that helps heal burns and various injuries.
In addition, there are often reviews about the high effectiveness of the spray as a remedy against dry skin and wrinkles. Women advise treating it with a pre-steamed face - the pores that open as a result allow more useful substances to be absorbed, thereby increasing the effectiveness of the drug.
