Oxygan is a drug used to relieve mild to moderate pain. It can have different origins and localizations. It is available in film-coated tablets.
The main substances that act in the composition of Oxygan are nimesulide and dicyclomine. They provide anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antipyretic and antispasmodic action of the drug.
Oxygan is prescribed exclusively by a doctor. However, it is strictly not recommended for children under twelve years of age, pregnant women and breastfeeding women. Also, Oxygan should not be used by women who are planning to become pregnant in the near future.
Oxygan is used for 1 to 3 days, 1-2 tablets per day. The amount depends on how severe the patient's condition is. The tablet is washed down with plenty of water immediately after meals.
The drug can be stored for up to 3 years at a constant temperature below 25 degrees Celsius in a dark place, out of the reach of children.

Indications Oxygang
Oxygan is used in the presence of moderate and mild pain syndromes of various origins. These may be infectious and inflammatory diseases, injuries and damage, gastrointestinal or gynecological irritations, etc. The drug is especially effective in the treatment of pain syndromes associated with spasm of the smooth muscles of the intestine, also called irritable bowel syndrome.
Indications for use of Oxygan stipulate that the drug has anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antipyretic and antispasmodic effects. At the same time, it is intended primarily for symptomatic treatment. The drug can be used only after a doctor's prescription.
Release form
Oxygan is produced in tablets that are film-coated. The tablets are only yellow and small in size, round and biconvex, which makes them easy to swallow. They also have a stripe on one side. This drug is sold in a paper envelope. The package contains only one blister, which contains four tablets. Such a small amount is explained by the fact that four tablets are enough if one person needs to take one course of this medicine. The form of release of the drug Oxygan is optimal for its manufacture, transportation, storage, and subsequent use.
Pharmacodynamics
Oxygan is a combination drug. Therefore, the pharmacodynamics of Oxygan and its effect are determined by the action of the active components that it contains. Oxygan has anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antipyretic and antispasmodic effects.
One of the main active ingredients is nimesulide. This is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug. It is what provides all of the above-mentioned effects of the drug, except for the antispasmodic one. It slows down the processes in the body that affect the formation of the pain syndrome itself. It also prevents further degradation of cartilage tissue. All this provides a complex effect of the drug, which allows nimesulide not only to reduce pain, but also to increase the mobility of the affected joints, as well as to slow the development of osteoarthritis.
Dicyclomine is the second active ingredient in Oxygan. It reduces spasms of the smooth muscles of the gastrointestinal tract by directly affecting them. It also has weak anticholinergic effects, which can cause various side effects: from blurred vision to dizziness.
Pharmacokinetics
Pharmacokinetics is related to the active substances of the drug. Nimesulide is quickly absorbed into the digestive system. Food can reduce the rate of absorption. But it does not reduce the degree of absorption. At the same time, 1-3 hours after a single dose of 100 milligrams of the substance, its concentration in the blood plasma is reached at the maximum level. If you take Oxygan twice a day, 100 milligrams for 7 days, then its level in the blood plasma will not differ from the level with a single dose.
The half-life of this substance is from 3.2 to 6 hours. Nimesulide is excreted from the body with urine in the amount of about 50% of the entire dose of the drug. Only 1-3% of the substance is excreted in its original form. Another 29% percent comes out after the entire digestion chain along with feces. At the same time, in elderly people, the kinetic profile of nimesulide does not change. Even moderate renal failure does not affect the results of using Oxygan.
Dicyclomine is absorbed after use. Its peak concentration is reached 60-90 minutes after use. 79.5% of the dose is excreted in the urine. And 8.4% - in the feces. Dicyclomine itself is intensively distributed in tissues.
Dosing and administration
The drug is prescribed only to adults, children do not use it at all. But the method of administration and doses depend on the severity of the disease. It is possible to use 1 tablet after meals 1-2 times a day throughout the entire treatment period. In this case, the maximum dose per day is 2 tablets. The minimum is 1 tablet. The duration of treatment is from 1 to 3 days, depending on the intensity of this treatment and the disease itself. The number of tablets per day and the duration of treatment are prescribed exclusively by the attending physician.
The drug should be taken immediately after breakfast and dinner if the doctor prescribed two tablets per day. If one tablet is taken per day, it can be taken after any meal. The main thing is to take it at approximately the same time every day to ensure the constant presence of active substances in the body for the entire period of treatment. In this case, the tablet should not be chewed. It should be swallowed whole and washed down with a sufficient amount of water, which will allow it to act faster. After this, you should refrain from eating any food for some time. Usually one or several hours are enough for the drug to act. After which you can eat and drink again.
Use Oxygang during pregnancy
The drug may negatively affect female fertility, so it is not recommended for women who are planning to become pregnant in the near future. In addition, it should not be used if a woman is undergoing infertility-related testing, as it may distort the results.
As for pregnancy itself, the use of the drug can provoke premature closure of the arterial duct, oligohydramnios, oliguria. It also increases the possibility of developing uterine weakness, bleeding and peripheral tumors. This can negatively affect the course of pregnancy and significantly complicate it, as well as future childbirth.
The use of Oxygan during pregnancy, especially at the end of pregnancy, sometimes causes renal failure in the newborn. For all these reasons, the use of the drug during pregnancy is contraindicated.
Doctors also do not recommend doing this during the period of breastfeeding a newborn. The fact is that one of the substances in Oxygan - dicyclomine - penetrates directly into breast milk. And this can negatively affect the health of the baby, because the drug should not be used for children at all.
Contraindications
It is not recommended to use Oxygan, first of all, for children under twelve years of age. In addition, it is not prescribed during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
But contraindications to the use of Oxygan are much wider. For example, it should not be used in case of hypersensitivity to any of the components that are in its composition. Especially to dicyclomine or nimesulide. After all, in this case, the drug will not only not work, but can also cause an allergic reaction, which will significantly worsen the patient's condition and force the current treatment to be suspended.
Also, the reason for refusing the drug should be some health problems. Among them are renal or hepatic failure, bleeding, ulcerative colitis, glaucoma, dehydration, myasthenia, obstructive uropathy or gastrointestinal disease, peptic ulcer of the stomach or duodenum, reflux esophagitis, prostatic hypertrophy or even suspicion of it. Also, in the presence of laryngeal edema, bronchospasm or polyps, you should refrain from using Oxygan so as not to aggravate the symptoms and diseases. All these cases should be excluded before starting to use the drug.

Side effects Oxygang
The drug Oxygan has a large list of possible side effects that are associated with the presence of certain substances in it.
Nimesulide can cause diseases of various systems and organs. For example, anemia, eosinophilia, pancytopenia and some other blood diseases. From the immune system - this is anaphylaxis and increased sensitivity. Metabolic problems are also possible. Mental disorders such as nightmares, nervousness, anxiety and even confusion are also possible. Problems with the nervous system include drowsiness, headache, dizziness and Reye's syndrome. Blurred vision is also possible. As for the cardiovascular system, bleeding, arterial hypertension, tachycardia and problems with blood pressure in general are possible. The respiratory system can be affected as a result of bronchial asthma, bronchospasm and dyspnea. In addition, problems can also arise with the skin, subcutaneous fat tissue, gastrointestinal tract, kidneys, urinary tract, and hepatobiliary system.
Side effects of Oxygan are also related to the presence of dicyclomine hydrochloride in the composition. It can cause disturbances in the digestive tract, central nervous system, organs of vision, genitourinary system, cardiovascular and respiratory. These are also allergic manifestations. For example, on the skin. In addition, sometimes general reactions appear, such as decreased sweating, nasal congestion, impotence, sneezing, and so on.
Overdose
Overdose of Oxygan causes dry mucous membranes and skin, nausea, and vomiting. Headache or dizziness may occur, urinary retention, central nervous system agitation, and even lethargy may occur. But all these symptoms can be eliminated if they are noticed in time and supportive therapy is administered. More serious consequences include gastrointestinal bleeding, acute renal failure, anaphylactic reactions, breathing problems, and coma.
If there is an overdose of dicycloverine, the symptoms will appear in two phases. First, there will be excitation of the central nervous system. It can be determined by the occurrence of anxiety, the appearance of hallucinations or illusions, hypertension and tachycardia. But the second phase is the depression of the central nervous system. If you do not intervene in time, a comatose state is possible.
Overdose symptoms can be treated symptomatically, but there is no specific antidote.
If you notice these symptoms, it is important to wash out the stomach, use an osmotic laxative together with activated carbon. Immediately after this, you should contact a doctor so that he regularly monitors the functions of the kidneys and liver, because further treatment depends on their condition.
Interactions with other drugs
Oxygan cannot be used with all medications. Using it with products containing acetylsalicylic acid, warfarin and similar anticoagulants can provoke bleeding. Also, nimesulide contained in Oxygan causes an increased risk of side effects when used together with hydanton. Other anticholinergic drugs should not be used simultaneously with Oxygan.
If furosemide is used together with Oxygan, those with impaired renal and cardiac function should be especially careful. Even in a healthy person, nimesulide reduces the effect of furosemide on the excretion of sodium, potassium and reduces diuresis.
Oxygan may also interact with other drugs in other ways. For example, its simultaneous use with lithium leads to the latter's concentration in the blood plasma increasing significantly. Lithium toxicity also increases. Therefore, it is important to monitor it regularly. And the concentration of drugs with the enzyme CYP 2C9 in the blood plasma may increase when used with Oxygan. The same thing happens with methotrexate, the concentration of which increases in the blood serum and leads to its toxicity.
Storage conditions
Oxygan should be stored at a stable temperature of up to 25 degrees Celsius. It is desirable that the storage place be dry and well protected from direct sunlight in particular and any light in general. All kinds of cabinets and lockable boxes for medicines located in living rooms or a hallway are perfect. The drug should not be left in the bathroom or kitchen, where the air humidity and temperature may exceed the permissible values.
The storage conditions for Oxygan also stipulate that the drug should be kept in a place that is completely inaccessible to children of any age.
Special instructions
In therapeutic doses, Oxygan should be used for no more than three days to reduce the risk of any side effects. After that, treatment should be stopped even if the patient's condition does not improve.
Oxygan should be discontinued if the patient develops symptoms that indicate liver damage. These include nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, increased fatigue, anorexia, or even dark urine. The drug is also discontinued if the results of functional liver tests are elevated.
During the use of the drug, it is important to avoid simultaneous treatment with hepatotoxin drugs, analgesics and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. In addition, alcoholic beverages in any form should not be consumed.
Special instructions for the use of Oxygan also concern the possibility of various side effects. Gastrointestinal bleeding or ulcers may occur at any time. If this occurs, the drug is immediately discontinued.
Oxygan should be used with special caution by patients with liver or heart failure, hemorrhagic diathesis, and gastrointestinal diseases.
It is important to remember that the use of the drug can mask an increase in body temperature caused by an underlying bacterial infection. And at high temperatures, even heat stroke can develop during the use of Oxygan.
Shelf life
The medicine can be stored in proper conditions for up to three years. All this time it will retain all its medicinal properties. This means that its use will be effective both at the beginning and at the end of this period. It should be taken into account that the shelf life of Oxygan can be reduced if stored in unfavorable conditions. That is, if the storage conditions are violated. It should also be remembered that the shelf life begins on the date of manufacture, and not from the moment of its purchase at the pharmacy. The date of manufacture can usually be found directly on the packaging, where the manufacturer indicates it for this purpose.
