Ovidon is a combined hormonal contraceptive based on synthetic substances that are analogous to female sex hormones - progesterone and estradiol. Other trade names for this drug are: Ovosept, Anthevin, Microgynon 30, Miniziston, Oralcon, Rigevidone, Trigestrel, and others.
Since the active substances Ovidon - like the drug Ovosept - are gestogen levonorgestrel (obtained by synthesis analog of progesterone, which produces the yellow body of the female ovaries and the adrenal cortex) and the analogue of follicular estradiol - ethinyl estradiol, then the pharmacodynamics Ovidon is identical to the drug Ovosept.
That is, all drugs with these active substances have the same contraceptive mechanism, the main principle of which is the blocking of ovulation by reducing the level of pituitary gland production of luteinizing hormone.
Similarly, indications and contraindications to the use of Ovidon, its way of administration and dose, side effects, interactions with other drugs are completely identical to the drug Ovosept.
