Indications Omarona
It is used to eliminate pathologies in the central nervous system, against the background of which intellectual and memory disorders develop:
- encephalopathy caused by poisoning or injury;
- cerebral circulatory failure (this includes vascular atherosclerosis, and in addition, the recovery period after a previously treated stroke of an ischemic or hemorrhagic nature);
- state of depression;
- the presence of mental retardation in the child;
- dysfunction of the vestibular apparatus;
- organic defect, often accompanied by symptoms of asthenia and adynamia;
- Meniere's disease;
- to prevent the occurrence of migraine attacks, as well as kinetosis - in both adults and children.
Release form
The medication is released in tablets, 30, 60 or 90 pieces per box.
Pharmacodynamics
Piracetam, which is one of the components of the drug, potentiates the processes of protein and energy metabolism, increases the rate of glucose utilization through cells, and also strengthens their resistance to hypoxia, which allows activating the metabolic processes occurring inside the brain. Inside the central nervous system, it has a positive effect on the process of transmission between nerves, and inside the ischemic area, it improves the activity of the regional circulatory system.
The second active component is cinnarizine, a selective blocker of slow Ca channels. It suppresses the influx of calcium ions into cells and reduces their values inside the plasma membrane depot. In addition, it also reduces smooth muscle tone in the arterioles and inhibits their response to the activity of biogenic vasoconstrictor agents (such as epinephrine with norepinephrine, as well as angiotensin and vasopressin with dopamine).
Omaron has a vasodilating effect (especially in relation to cerebral vessels), increases the antihypoxic effect of piracetam, while at the same time not having a significant effect on blood pressure.
The medicine has a moderate antihistamine effect, removes excitability in the vestibular apparatus, and in addition reduces the tone of the sympathetic nervous system and has a positive effect on the elasticity of the walls of red blood cells and strengthens their strength in relation to deforming factors. The drug also improves blood viscosity.

Pharmacokinetics
After oral administration, piracetam is completely and at a fairly high speed absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. The plasma Cmax indicator is noted after 2-6 hours (in the cerebrospinal fluid - after 2-8 hours). The drug has a 100% bioavailability level.
Omarone is not synthesized with plasma protein, but is distributed within almost all organs with tissues, and also penetrates the placenta. Within the cerebral cortex, it accumulates selectively - the majority remains in the frontal, parietal, and occipital lobes, and also within the cerebellum with the basal ganglia.
Piracetam is not subject to metabolic processes and after approximately 30 hours is excreted in the urine (more than 95%).
Within the blood plasma after 1-4 hours, Cmax of cinnarizine is noted. This element is synthesized with plasma proteins by 91%.
The metabolism of the substance is quite active and complete. Its half-life is 4 hours.
A third of the metabolic products are excreted through the kidneys, and the remainder through the intestines.

Dosing and administration
The tablets are taken orally, with or immediately after meals.
For adults, the dosage is usually 1-2 tablets three times a day, for a period of 1-3 months, taking into account the type of disease and its severity. Treatment courses are allowed to be carried out 2-3 times a year.
Children over 5 years of age should take Omaron in the same dosage of 1-2 tablets, but once or twice a day. Such therapy is allowed to be carried out for a maximum period of 3 months.
To prevent the development of kinetosis, adult patients should take 1 tablet of the drug, and children - 0.5 tablets. The drug should be taken half an hour before the expected trip. Repeating such a dose is allowed after 6-8 hours.
For the treatment of chronic renal failure (the level of CC is 20-80 ml/minute), take 1 tablet twice a day.
Use Omarona during pregnancy
The medicine is not prescribed to pregnant or breastfeeding women.
Contraindications
Main contraindications:
- the presence of individual intolerance to piracetam with cinnarizine or other components of the drug;
- hypolactasia and lactase deficiency, as well as glucose-galactose malabsorption (due to the fact that the drug contains lactose);
- liver or kidney diseases (creatinine clearance level below 20 ml/minute) in severe stages;
- parkinsonism;
- hemorrhagic stroke;
- Huntington's chorea;
- agitation of a psychomotor nature.
Caution is required when prescribing to people with the following disorders:
- CRF (CC indicators are within 20-80 ml/minute);
- mild or moderate diseases in the kidney or liver area;
- porphyria;
- elevated IOP values;
- hemostasis disorder;
- severe form of bleeding;
- surgical operations affecting large areas of the body;
- epileptic seizures;
- thyrotoxicosis;
- the presence of a predisposition to the development of symptoms of neurotic etiology;
- atherosclerosis in the area of cerebral vessels.
Side effects Omarona
The use of the drug may lead to the appearance of some side effects:
- CNS and PNS dysfunction: slow movements, feeling of drowsiness or irritability, and also depression, asthenia and headaches. Occasionally, ataxia, insomnia, exacerbation of epileptic seizures, dizziness, tremor and increased libido are observed. Extrapyramidal disorders, a feeling of excitement, imbalance or anxiety, deterioration of concentration and hallucinations also develop;
- signs affecting the functioning of the cardiovascular system: decrease or increase in blood pressure values;
- digestive disorders: symptoms of dyspepsia and dry mouth. Rarely, diarrhea, vomiting with nausea, intrahepatic cholestasis and abdominal pain occur;
- lesions affecting the epidermis: occasionally dermatitis, itching or rashes appear;
- signs of allergy: Quincke's edema;
- Others: weight gain and hyperhidrosis. Lichen planus or drug-induced lupus are occasionally observed.
Overdose
Poisoning with the drug may cause a disturbance of consciousness, extrapyramidal disorders and vomiting, as well as a decrease in blood pressure. If a person takes a dosage of 75+ g of piracetam, abdominal pain and bloody diarrhea may occur.
Because Omaron has no antidote, the victim needs to undergo gastric lavage and be prescribed enterosorbents. Then, if necessary, symptomatic and supportive measures are taken.
The efficiency rate of hemodialysis procedure is about 50-60% (relative to piracetam).
Interactions with other drugs
Combination with drugs that suppress the activity of the central nervous system, ethyl alcohol, nootropic, and hypotensive drugs leads to potentiation of their sedative properties.
Vasodilator drugs potentiate the effectiveness of the drug.
Omaron helps improve the tolerability of tricyclics, as well as antipsychotics.
Piracetam may increase the central effects of medications that affect thyroid hormones (tremors, sleep disorders, feelings of anxiety or irritability).
Combined use with orally administered anticoagulants increases their therapeutic effectiveness.
Storage conditions
Omaron can be kept at temperatures up to a maximum of 25°C.
Shelf life
Omaron can be used for 3 years from the date of manufacture of the drug.
Application for children
Omaron is prohibited for use in children under 5 years of age.
Analogues
Analogues of the drug are Quinton with Vinpocetine, as well as Thiocetam, Glycine, Nootropil with Lucetam, Pantogam, etc.
Reviews
Omaron is used to treat certain diseases affecting the central nervous system, in which intellectual and mnestic disorders are observed. Doctors often speak about this medicine from a positive point of view - its high medicinal effectiveness is highlighted (both in the treatment and prevention of disorders - motion sickness or migraine).
