The list of indications also includes trophic ulcers, bedsores, diaper rash, bruises, cuts on the skin, slow-healing scars after surgical operations, as well as skin lesions caused by Staphylococcus aureus bacteria.

This product can be used for therapeutic and prophylactic purposes in otolaryngology, for example, for irrigation of the oral mucosa in patients with inflammatory infections of the mouth and throat.

The medicine is used to treat paranasal sinuses in case of sinusitis, the bladder in case of cystitis, etc.

Octenisept can be used for antisepsis during operations and other medical procedures. The drug is also effective in the treatment and prevention of inflammatory processes in the urinary and genital areas, or in sexually transmitted diseases.

The product is produced in the form of:

  • solution for local use, 50 ml in a synthetic bottle with a spray nozzle. Each bottle is placed in a factory cardboard box;
  • solution for local use, 50 ml in a synthetic bottle with a vaginal attachment. Supplied in a factory cardboard package;

  • octenidine dihydrochloride 0.1%;

Auxiliary component – glycerin.

Pharmacodynamics

Octenisept is a topical antiseptic with a wide range of antimicrobial effects. The effect of the drug is explained by the properties of its constituent components, which are capable of causing the destruction of bacterial cell membranes.

The action of the antiseptic is directed at gram (+) and gram (-) microorganisms, in particular:

  • Mycobacterium tuberculosis;
  • streptococci;
  • staphylococci;
  • enterococci;
  • Neucheria;
  • Escherichia;
  • shigella;
  • Proteus;
  • pseudomonads;
  • corynebacteria;
  • gardnerella.

In addition, the medicine has a detrimental effect on fungal infections: actinomycetes, trichophyton, microspores, candida.

Octenisept is also suitable for destroying viral infections:

  • herpes infection;
  • hepatitis;
  • AIDS virus.

Chlamydia, trichomonas, mycoplasma, ureaplasma, etc. are also sensitive to the antiseptic.

Pharmacokinetics

The antiseptic solution Octenisept is practically non-toxic to the human body and does not enter the systemic circulation, even through damaged areas of the skin.

When using this medicine to treat wounds and burns, regeneration (restoration) processes are noticeably accelerated, which is explained by the immunostimulating effect of Octenisept.

When applied externally, the product begins to act within 30 seconds, continuing to exert a bactericidal effect for quite a long period of time.

The drug has no systemic effect.

Dosing and administration

Octenisept is used only locally. Before applying the product, the damaged skin or mucous membranes are cleaned, then the solution is carefully applied to the required area (using a cotton swab, disc or spray nozzle).

If a bandage needs to be applied, this is done only on dry skin, waiting for the applied liquid to dry.

Before surgical interventions, this product can be used to treat the area of the proposed incision and surrounding tissues. The surgical field is treated at least twice.

For patients with wounds and burns, the drug is applied undiluted, using a tampon, bandage, or simply sprayed directly from the bottle nozzle.

For therapeutic and preventive purposes in case of inflammation of the mouth and throat, a solution diluted with clean water is used in a ratio of one to three.

To treat the sinuses, bladder or eye surface, Octenisept is diluted in a ratio of one to six. In such cases, the solution can be diluted with clean water or saline.

To prevent sexually transmitted infections, the solution is used undiluted, immediately after sexual contact.

For urethritis or prostatitis, the drug is administered in an amount of up to 5 ml into the urethra up to 3 times a day.

In case of infection with Staphylococcus aureus, treatment with the solution is carried out after diluting it (one to two, one to six, depending on the severity of the disease).

Fungal infection is destroyed by using the undiluted product.

Octenisept is applied only to dry skin. The average number of times the drug is applied per day is three, maximum – six times.

Do not drip the medicine into the ears to avoid eardrum burns.

Do not swallow the product or put undiluted drops into your eyes.

Use Octenisept during pregnancy

Unlike many bactericidal drugs, Octenisept is not prohibited for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. This drug does not enter the systemic circulation, so there is no risk of penetration of the active components of the solution through the placenta to the fetus.

During breastfeeding, Octenisept can be used, among other things, to disinfect nipples. However, you need to thoroughly rinse your breasts so that the solution does not get into the baby's mouth.

Contraindications

The antiseptic Octenisept has virtually no contraindications, with the exception of individual hypersensitivity to this drug - a tendency to allergic reactions. In all other cases, the solution can be used without restrictions, including in pediatric practice.

All of the above symptoms disappear without a trace after stopping the use of the drug. No additional treatment for side effects is required.
