Menovalen has a hypnotic and sedative therapeutic effect.

Pharmacodynamics

Valerian extract includes a complex of alkaloids with essential oils that have a mild sedative effect relative to human NS. This element promotes falling asleep and reduces nervous tension. It is prescribed in the case of neuroses affecting the CVS, in which a variety of vascular spasms are noted, and in addition, with migraine or epilepsy and asthma. It can be used in case of neurodermatitis.

Peppermint potentiates the activity of valerian. This plant contains a variety of terpenoids, trace elements, menthol with carotene, rutin, flavonoids and tannins.

Dosing and administration

It is required to swallow the capsules whole, without chewing or opening them, with plain water.

The medication is prescribed in the amount of 1 capsule, with 3 times per day, before eating (20-30 minutes).

In the case of mild insomnia, 1-2 capsules are taken 1-1.5 hours before bedtime (unless there are other medical indications).

The therapeutic cycle is selected personally; usually capsules are taken in the period of the 1st month.

If there is no improvement after a 2-week treatment cycle, it is necessary to clarify the diagnosis and change the therapy regimen.

  • weakening of physical capacity for work and concentration of attention, anxiety, insomnia and paradoxical excitement in the area of the NA;
  • nausea, pain in the epigastric zone, heartburn, gastric indigestion, constipation and diarrhea;
  • a variety of allergy symptoms, hives, dyspnea, swelling and itching.

Negative signs develop only occasionally, mainly in the case of drug abuse and uncontrolled consumption of large portions for a long time.

Overdose

In the case of poisoning, photosensitivity, nausea, systemic weakness, tremor, compression in the chest region, headaches, dilated eye pupils and weakening of visual and auditory acuity are noted.

If necessary, gastric lavage and the use of enterosorbents are performed, as well as symptomatic actions. After that, the medicine is canceled and the treating doctor is consulted.

Interactions with other drugs

It is forbidden to combine medicine with artificial sedatives.

Menovalene potentiates the influence exerted on NS by such agents as diazepam, zopiclone with phenobarbital, tranquilizers and anxiolytics with chlordiazepoxide, and in addition antispasmodics, antipsychotics, hypnotics and sedatives, nootropics and zolpidem. In addition, this list includes alcohol, pain relievers, curariform muscle relaxants and antihypertensive substances.

During the period of therapy, it is prohibited to consume alcoholic beverages.
