Medichronal has detoxifying properties.
Indications Medichronal
It is used to increase the effectiveness of other therapeutic procedures carried out for alcoholism:
- alcohol intoxication, withdrawal syndrome;
- prevention of the development of secondary alcoholism;
- prevention of intoxication.
Release form
The substance is released in granules, inside packages of type No. 1, as well as No. 2; the set contains one of each type of package. Inside the box - 1, 7 or 21 sets.
Pharmacodynamics
Medichronal is a complex drug that helps reduce the excess of toxic metabolic products (acetaldehyde) of ethanol in the body.
The drug has detoxifying properties; it activates metabolic processes, promotes the biosynthesis of catecholamines (including norepinephrine), thereby potentiating neurotransmitter processes, as well as the function of the cerebral cortex. At the same time, the drug stabilizes the activity of the limbic-reticular complex.
It has a positive effect on liver function, helps improve sleep and overall well-being.
The symptoms of acute alcohol intoxication and withdrawal symptoms subside approximately 30 minutes after taking the drug.
Pharmacokinetics
Glycine is absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract at high speed. The bioavailability values of the substance approach 100%. The element quickly passes into most body fluids and tissues. The transformation of glycine in the liver is carried out with the participation of glycine oxidase.
Preservative E237 is also absorbed quite quickly in the intestine. Once in the body, the substance interacts with acetaldehyde, releasing conjugates that participate in the citrate cycle, as well as potentiating the synthesis of macroergic bonds.
Dosing and administration
Medichronal should be taken orally, after meals. Granules contained in packages No. 1 and No. 2 are pre-dissolved in plain water (0.2 l). A single serving is 28.5 g (the total weight of granules from 2 packages). To improve the taste of the drug, non-carbonated drinks may be used to dissolve the substance.
To relieve acute withdrawal or alcohol intoxication, take 28.5 g of the drug on the 1st day at intervals of 12 hours, and then a similar dosage once on the 2nd and 3rd days.
In combination with other medications for the treatment of chronic alcoholism, as well as when secondary prevention is necessary, a daily intake of 28.5 g of the drug is prescribed for 7 days. The entire treatment course in such cases usually consists of 3 such cycles, with 3-day breaks between them.
To prevent the possibility of relapse, it is recommended to undergo a repeat 1-month treatment cycle after 1.5 months from the end of therapy. During the year, 1-3 repeat treatment courses are allowed for prevention, lasting 1-2 weeks.
You can prevent the development of intoxication by taking a single dose of the medicine 30 minutes before the expected consumption of alcohol.
