Release form
The drug is released in tablets, packed in blister strips of 15 pieces. Inside the pack there are 1 or 2 such strips.
Pharmacodynamics
The active element of the medicine is a vitamin from the B category, which is water-soluble. Biotin is extremely important for the healthy growth and development of cells inside the human body.
The active component, coenzyme carboxylase, is an active participant in the processes of lipogenesis, gluconeogenesis, leucine breakdown and propionate biotransformation. The drug helps stabilize blood glucose levels and improves the function of the nervous system along with the processes of collagen binding to purine nucleotides.
The component has a positive effect on the condition of nails, epidermis and hair. In a healthy organism with high-quality nutrition, biotin is subject to binding with intestinal microflora or penetrates inside with food.
Often, with prolonged diets, unbalanced nutritional regimen, malabsorption syndrome, consumption of raw egg whites in large quantities, as well as after hemodialysis or resection of the small intestine, a deficiency of this element is observed.
Pharmacokinetics
After taking the drug, the active element is absorbed inside the upper part of the small intestine, and the process itself occurs under the influence of diffusion. About 80% of the drug undergoes protein synthesis inside the plasma.
Medobiotin is excreted in feces and urine (50% unchanged and another 50% in the form of inactive metabolic products). The half-life is about 24 hours, but in general it is highly dependent on the size of the portion used.
Dosing and administration
The medicine must be taken orally, before meals. Before starting therapy, you should consult your doctor.
To strengthen hair and nails and improve the condition of the epidermis, as well as for psycho-emotional disorders, take 1 tablet per day. If necessary, it is allowed to increase the dosage to 5 mg of the substance (up to 2 tablets per day) during the first week of treatment.
To treat malabsorption syndrome, take 4 tablets (10 mg of the drug) per day, and this daily dose should be divided into 4 doses.
In case of multiple carboxylase deficiency, a maximum of 20 mg of the substance is allowed per day (8 tablets taken in 2 doses).
The medication is well tolerated, which allows it to be used in long courses. The average period of the treatment cycle is 30 days (unless there are other medical indications).
