trusted-source[1]

Indications Medecolla

It is used to treat noninfectious lesions of the cornea, conjunctiva and anterior ocular segment (allergic or inflammatory).

Can be used for inflammation after surgical procedures.

Release form

Release of the medicine is made in the form of a suspension for eye drops, inside the flasks-droppers, having a volume of 10 ml. Inside the pack - 1 such a bottle.

Pharmacodynamics

Corticosteroids are highly effective in treating inflammation affecting the eyes. GCS have an anti-inflammatory effect, inhibiting the adhesive molecules of the vessels inside the endothelial cells, as well as COX 1 or 2, and in addition the process of secretion of cytokines. This allows to reduce the production of inflammatory conductors and suppress leukocyte adhesion to the vascular endothelium, thus preventing their passage into the inflamed eye tissues.

Dexamethasone demonstrates pronounced anti-inflammatory activity with reduced mineralocorticoid effect (in comparison with some other steroids) and is considered one of the most powerful anti-inflammatory elements.

Pharmacokinetics

Ophthalmic values of the bioavailability of dexamethasone in the local treatment of the eye were determined in people who had previously had an operation to remove cataracts.

Peak values of about 30 ng / ml, the component reaches in the intraocular fluid; This happens after 2 hours. After that, there is a decrease in indicators with a half-life, lasting 3 hours.

Dosing and administration

Medexol is used exclusively for ophthalmic procedures. Vial with droplets should be shaken before use.

At the beginning of treatment for acute or severe stage of inflammation, 1-2 drops of drug should be used - instilled into the conjunctival sac of the infected eye at intervals of 0.5-1 hour.

With the development of a positive reaction, the batch is reduced to the introduction of the same 1-2 drops, but at intervals of 2-4 hours.

Later, the dosage can be reduced to the 1st drop, digested 3-4 times a day (if this amount is sufficient to control inflammation).

Chronic forms of inflammation are treated with 1-2 drops of the drug at intervals of 3-6 hours.

In the case of allergies or mild inflammation, 1-2 drops of LS are added at intervals of 3-4 hours until the desired result is achieved.

It is premature to stop treatment. During therapy, the IOP should be monitored regularly.

After the instillation, you must gently close your eyes or occlude the nasolacrimal segment. Such measures allow weakening the systemic absorption of the drug, thereby reducing the risk of common negative symptoms.

When using other local ophthalmic drugs during treatment with Medexol, you should adhere to the intervals between their applications, which are 10-15 minutes.

Use of drops for problems with renal / hepatic activity.

Studies on the use of medication in people with similar disorders have not been conducted. However, a weak systemic absorption of a substance in the local use of drugs makes it possible to assign it to such patients without adjusting the dosage.

Scheme of drug use.

Wash hands before starting the procedure. Next, throw back the head, pull back the lower eyelid, then bring the tip of the dropper to the eye and drip into the cavity formed a drop of the drug, gently pressing on the bottle.

Do not touch the eyelids, eyelids, or other surfaces with a dropper, because as a result, infection of the drops may occur.

After instillation, you need to release the eyelid, close your eyes, and then gently press your finger inside the corner of the eye (near the nose).

At the end of the procedure, the bottle with drops is covered with a protective cap.

If the first time did not manage to drip a drop in the eye, repeat the procedure. If, on the contrary, too much medicinal substance has been dripped, it is required to rinse the eye with warm running water and not bury it until the time of the next dosage.

If the dosage was missed, you should drip a single dose immediately, once it was remembered. But if by that time the turn of the new dose has already approached, the previous one should be skipped, having dripped only the new one. Do not administer a double dose of medication.
