The tablet drug Maitharen is one of the many representatives of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory and antirheumatic drugs.
Indications Maitharena
Maitharen is used as a remedy for the following diseases and conditions:
- for pain syndrome that accompanies such inflammatory and degenerative processes as rheumatoid arthritis, spondyloarthritis, spondylitis, osteoarthritis;
- for pain accompanying various disorders of the spinal column;
- during an exacerbation of gout;
- for pain arising from injuries or surgeries;
- for severe migraine attacks;
- during an attack of gallstone disease;
- for pain associated with the female reproductive system (PMS, menstrual irregularities, ovarian inflammation);
- for inflammatory processes in the otolaryngological sphere (pathologies of the ears, throat and nose).
Release form
Maitharen is produced in tablet dosage form: the tablets are round, light (almost white), flattened on both sides, with a dosing notch on one side.
One tablet contains 0.5 g of paracetamol and 0.05 g of diclofenac potassium, as well as a number of auxiliary ingredients.
Packaging: blister pack containing 10 Maitharen tablets.
Pharmacodynamics
Maitharen is a combination of medicinal substances that have anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic properties.
Diclofenac has all the listed properties of the drug. Pain relief occurs within 10-30 minutes from the moment of taking the tablet. The principle of action of this component is the suppression of the production of cyclic products of arachidonic acid metabolism, which are considered the strongest mediators of the inflammatory process. As a result of the influence of the drug, the susceptibility of the blood vascular bed to the action of histamine and bradykinin decreases, the production of prothrombin and platelet aggregation are blocked, the content of endorphin in the plasma increases, the amount of prostaglandins in the menstrual fluid decreases and the sensation of pain in primary disorders of the monthly cycle is softened.
In patients with inflammatory pathology and rheumatic problems, diclofenac quickly reveals an analgesic effect, eliminates joint stiffness, reduces signs of inflammation and swelling, and improves the general condition.
The second active ingredient of the drug Maitharen – paracetamol – is one of the most common representatives of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs belonging to the group of para-aminophenols.
The principle of action of paracetamol is its effect on the hypothalamic centers of the brain.
In various rheumatological problems, paracetamol has a pronounced anti-inflammatory and analgesic effect, which is manifested by a decrease in joint pain and swelling of the joints.
The use of the drug after injuries and surgeries helps to get rid of pain and eliminate inflammatory fluid accumulation in tissues.
Maitharen relieves pain associated with primary menstrual irregularities and also relieves migraine pain.
Pharmacokinetics
Oral (internal) administration of Maitharen results in rapid absorption of the active ingredients into the systemic circulation. The maximum content of diclofenac in the blood serum is detected within 60-120 minutes. The presence of food in the stomach somewhat slows down the rate of absorption, but does not affect the amount of the drug entering the bloodstream.
Maitharen is 99% bound to plasma proteins and is well distributed in tissues and body fluids.
The half-life can range from one to two hours.
Metabolic processes occur in the liver. Excretion is 35% by the kidneys and 35% by the liver.
The maximum paracetamol content in the blood serum after oral administration of Maitharen tablets can be detected after half an hour: the level remains virtually unchanged for about 4 hours. The protein binding of paracetamol is 25%, the half-life is from one and a half to two hours. The percentage of paracetamol in urine is usually higher than in blood serum.
Dosing and administration
The dosage of Maitharen tablets is determined by the doctor individually, since it is necessary to pay special attention to the patient's age, the form and course of the disease, the general tolerance of drugs and the effectiveness of the treatment.
Typically, adult patients and children over 13 years of age take Maitharen in the amount of 1 tablet 2-3 times a day, after meals.
The duration of therapy can be 6-7 days, depending on the dynamics of the disease.
The maximum daily dose of Maitharen may not exceed 3 tablets.
