Many countries around the world have abandoned the use of analgin because of its side effects. We still treat them with them, create various combinations with other drugs to enhance their effect. Does a mixture of analgin and paracetamol have the right to exist, and if so, in what case?

Is it possible to paracetamol and analgin together?

This tandem exists, doctors make such appointments according to certain indications. The drugs have different active ingredients, but the same direction of action. Their simultaneous use enhances the therapeutic effect.

What happens if you drink aspirin with analgin? This combination is also used, but not for the treatment of pathologies, but for a single use. The need for their combination arises when a high temperature lasts for several days and does not go astray. Aspirin with analgin will instantly reduce it.

Indications Mixtures of analgin and paracetamol

Paracetamol is a widely used remedy for colds, fever, and pain relief, but its anti-inflammatory activity is low. [1],  [2]Indications for taking analgin is a pain syndrome of various etiologies: in muscles, joints, toothache, menstrual, in the postoperative period. It has a powerful hypothermic effect, suppresses infectious and inflammatory reactions.  [3], [4]

Paracetamol and analgin are used as an antipyretic for colds, if the fever wears for a long period, the general state of health is poor, and some effective drugs, like paracetamol or ibuprofen, did not help.

Release form

The most common form of release of paracetamol is tablets. They come with different dosages of the active substance of the same name: from 200 to 500 mg. In addition, there are capsules of the drug, and syrup, suspension and suppositories are produced specifically for children.

Analgin - tablets, each of them contains 500 mg of metamizole sodium. A solution for intramuscular and intravenous injections is also produced, in an ampoule of 250 or 500 mg of the active agent.

Pharmacodynamics

Paracetamol is a metabolite of phenacetin, formerly widely used to lower fever and relieve pain. Affects the centers of pain and thermoregulation in the brain. It inhibits the production of prostaglandins - physiologically active substances that increase the sensitivity of pain receptors.

The pharmacodynamics of analgin is similar, its therapeutic effect is also associated with the inhibition of pain mediators, substances responsible for heat production.

Pharmacokinetics

Paracetamol begins to act an hour after ingestion, is metabolized by the liver, and is almost completely absorbed in the intestine. It is excreted by the kidneys, the half-life is up to 4 hours.

Metamizole sodium is absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract about half an hour after ingestion, its maximum concentration in the blood is reached after 1-1.5 hours in the amount of 60%, the rest is excreted in the urine.

Dosing and administration

The combination of two drugs is not used for long-term treatment, but only in emergency cases, when, for example, it was not possible to bring down the high temperature by other means, while the head, joints and muscles are very sore.

It is very important to know how to give analgin and paracetamol, their proportions. At one time, you can take 0.35-0.5 g of paracetamol and 0.25-0.5 g of analgin. Depending on how much active substance is in the tablet, the lower limit is half an analgin tablet and half a tablet of paracetamol (whole 500 mg), and the upper limit is 2 tablets of paracetamol (200 mg) and 1 analgin.

The maximum daily dose of analgin is 1 g, paracetamol is 2 g, for the mixture it is legitimate to apply half the amount allowed. The course of treatment is no more than 3 days.

  • Application for children

Analgin is not recommended for use in children, because. Refers to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, characterized by their toxic effect on the body. Only from the age of 12-15 can it be used to reduce fever and relieve pain. In combination with paracetamol, it can be used in health-threatening conditions, but only under the supervision of a pediatrician.

The doctor will calculate the required dose depending on the age and weight of the child. Since both of these drugs have an antipyretic effect, an overdose during fever can lead to a rapid decrease in temperature, which will adversely affect the state of the body.

Use Mixtures of analgin and paracetamol during pregnancy

Both drugs pass through the placenta and into breast milk, although paracetamol passes into milk in small quantities. Since it is less toxic, if there is a threat to the life of a woman, it is still used. And yet it is advisable not to do this in the first trimester of pregnancy.

Analgin is contraindicated both when carrying a child and when breastfeeding. Therefore, a mixture of analgin and paracetamol is unacceptable to expectant mothers.

So, analgin is not used simultaneously with other NSAIDs. It, like paracetamol, reduces the diuretic effect. Tricyclic antidepressants, alcohol increases their toxicity.

There are so-called lytic mixtures invented in the USSR - combinations of several drugs, most often prepared in the form of solutions for injection. They have a beneficial effect on the elimination of fever with a very high temperature, lasting several days. Their interaction is considered effective in stabilizing the normal state.   • analgin, paracetamol and aspirin - a triad of strong action to reduce hyperemia;
  • analgin, paracetamol and no-shpa - an antispasmodic component is added to eliminate spasms of the vascular system and restore blood circulation;
  • paracetamol, diphenhydramine and analgin - diphenhydramine increases the analgesic effect of analgin and antipyretic of the two components.

The above combinations are made for single use.

The combination of analgin, paracetamol and warfarin in time is undesirable, since the latter belongs to antithrombotic drugs, its combination with NSAIDs (analgin) can cause dangerous bleeding.

Reviews

Although in recent years the policy of the Ministry of Health has been aimed at minimizing the use of drugs with the active substance metamizole sodium, it is not so easy for people to abandon the established ideas about the effectiveness of analgin used for many decades. According to reviews, it is still widely used to relieve pain and symptoms of the common cold.
