Lotions for psoriasis

Scaly lichen (psoriasis) is still a chronic incurable disease, the exacerbations of which alternate with latent periods. Treatment of this pathology is aimed at effectively combating relapses and maximally prolonging the period of remission. The disadvantages and advantages of various drugs can be considered only from this point of view.
Lotions for psoriasis have a number of advantages over other forms of release:
- they are well absorbed, which is facilitated by their structure and liquid state;
- when absorbed, the lotion does not leave a greasy film on the body, and accordingly, no marks on clothes and bed linen, and thanks to this, there is no need to wash it off;
- The lotion, in particular in the form of an aerosol, is convenient to use on almost any part of the body, especially for psoriatic rashes under the scalp, since its use is not visually noticeable.
Release form
Preparations for stopping exacerbations of psoriasis from China are becoming increasingly popular. The Chinese lotion "Fufang" Clean Body (original name: Compound Fluocinonide Tincture Fufang Cusuan Fuqingsong Ding) has proven itself well.
The lotion comes in a 70-gram plastic bottle, equipped with a brush and instructions for use.
The pharmacodynamics of the lotion is determined by its contents:
- fluocinonide is the main ingredient of the lotion, a third-generation synthetic glucocorticosteroid hormone, which actively reduces the formation of proinflammatory mediators, due to which the rashes stop itching, swelling subsides, and allergic reactions are reduced;
- acids: low-concentration fluoride, acetic and salicylic acids complement the anti-inflammatory action of the hormone, in addition, the last two destroy pathogenic bacteria, preventing secondary infection, while salicylic acid relieves pain, exfoliates scales, normalizes circulation and reparative processes in the dermis;
- borneol is a local anesthetic and antiseptic that has a pronounced inhibition of the inflammatory process;
- camphor – soothes irritation;
- herbal extracts, long used by Chinese healers to cleanse and restore the skin surface and renew its cells;
- water purified from impurity ions normalizes cell proliferation and renewal, potentiates the effect of the lotion components;
- Ethyl alcohol is an antiseptic and preservative.
Chinese lotion for psoriasis compound fluocinonide tincture, due to the complex effect of the components, effectively relieves inflammation, allergies, stimulates regeneration, renewal and blood circulation in the damaged layers of the skin, which helps reduce the sensation of itching and burning, rapid healing of the skin surface. The lotion has antiseptic properties and has a preventive effect against secondary infection.
Fluocinonide, when applied to the skin, is converted into an ether compound. This property ensures excellent absorption by the skin, prolonged action, increased glucocorticosteroid activity and prevents penetration into the systemic bloodstream.
The lotion is applied to the damaged areas with a brush once or twice a day. Before applying to the hairy area of the head, the lotion is diluted with alcohol in a 1:1 ratio. The lotion diluted with olive oil in the same ratio is applied to dry and sensitive scalp skin.
Can be used with other medications. Enhances the effectiveness of antibiotics when used simultaneously.
Store for no more than two years in a cool place protected from sunlight.
Belosalik psoriasis lotion is a combination of two active ingredients: a glucocorticosteroid (betamethasone dipropionate) and salicylic acid, which improves its absorption.
Betamethasone dipropionate, when applied to areas covered with rashes, reduces the production of pro-inflammatory and pro-allergic factors, which helps eliminate itching, swelling and irritation. It has an immunosuppressive effect, reduces the rate of cell division and growth, constricts blood vessels, thereby reducing redness and normalizing blood microcirculation.
Salicylic acid has an exfoliating effect and carries betemetasone dipropionate into deeper layers of the skin. It is active against pathogenic microorganisms and prevents secondary infection. Enhances the anti-inflammatory effect of the hormonal ingredient, promotes renewal and healing of the epithelial layer.
Release form: dropper bottle and aerosol bottle with a long spray nozzle, designed for treating the skin under the hair.
Directions for use:
Drop onto the affected area of skin in several places and rub lightly or spray onto the scalp once or twice a day depending on the severity of the lesion. Duration of treatment is no more than a month.
Use in combination with other drugs that contain ethyl alcohol and have a drying effect may lead to skin irritation.
Store for no more than two years at a storage temperature of up to 25°C.
Elokom psoriasis lotion is a monodrug with the active ingredient mometasone furoate. Release form - bottles with a dropper.
Anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic agent, eliminating exudation and itching phenomena quite quickly. Using the lotion for two weeks gives the effect of a virtually clean skin surface.
When applied to the skin, the active ingredient deactivates phospholipase A2, reducing the level of lipocortins (regulators of the production of proinflammatory mediators). Consequently, the release of arachidonic acid decreases, which in turn reduces the concentration of prostaglandins and leukotrienes in the inflammation site.
The antiallergic effect of mometasone furoate is reduced to the binding of histamine and serotonin.
The immunosuppressant effect consists of reducing the production of interleukins, interferon and other cytokines.
In the center of inflammation, the strength of the vessel membranes increases, their lumen narrows, blood microcirculation improves, which reduces swelling.
The migration of eosinophils and the proliferation of T-lymphocytes slow down, also helping to reduce the inflammatory process.
The absorption of the active substance and its penetration into the systemic bloodstream is determined by many factors, but, as a rule, does not amount to more than 1% of the dose received during treatment.
Side effects usually occur when the treatment lasts more than three weeks. In addition to the above effects, headaches, hypertension, immediate loss of vision, and swelling of the optic nerve may be observed.
Directions for use: Apply a few drops of lotion to the affected area once daily, rubbing it in with light massage movements. As the condition improves, switch to applying every other day.
Store for no more than three years at a temperature of 2-25°C.
Non-hormonal lotions for psoriasis can have a good effect, which are used both independently and in combination with antibiotics, hormonal external and oral drugs, enterosgel. Lotions are usually prescribed for the treatment of psoriatic rashes on hairy areas.
Daivonex lotion, the active ingredient of which is calcipotriol monohydrate. The structure and properties of this substance are similar to the natural metabolite of cholecalciferol. It has a pronounced exfoliating effect, quickly removing scaly skin, itching and normalizing the proliferation of keratinocytes. When applied locally, 1 to 5% of calcipotriol enters the systemic bloodstream, the biotransformation of which occurs in liver cells.
The use of lotion by pregnant and lactating women is not recommended.
Contraindicated in case of sensitization to the components, excess of vitamin D and/or calcium, kidney stone disease, hypercalciuria. Not used for treating facial skin and mucous membranes.
Side effects are reversible and disappear after discontinuing the lotion. They manifest themselves in the form of various allergic reactions, excess calcium, exacerbation of psoriasis, hyperpigmentation or depigmentation, photosensitivity.
Method of application and dosage: no more than one bottle (60 ml) of lotion can be used per week. Treat rashes twice a day.
The lotion is not used in combination with preparations containing salicylic acid (its derivatives).
Application to large areas of skin surface may cause symptoms of hypercalcemia such as mental retardation, convulsions, difficulty breathing, hypertension, joint, muscle, headaches, digestive disorders, etc.
Store for no more than three years at temperatures up to 25°C.
Oxypor lotion contains salicylic acid, benzocaine, ethyl alcohol. Relieves inflammation and itching, softens and exfoliates the outer layer of the skin, disinfects its surface.
Use by pregnant and lactating women is not recommended.
Contraindicated in case of sensitization to the components of the drug and children 0-2 years old. Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes.
Side effects include skin allergic reactions, decreased sensitivity at the site of application, photosensitivity, and occasionally methemoglobinemia.
Directions for use: Treat the affected areas with a cotton pad soaked in the lotion twice a day. Allow the skin to dry in the open air, and only then get dressed.
Treat hairy areas with your fingers, rubbing in lightly. Wash your hair with shampoo once a week. Remove loose flakes with a fine-toothed comb.
Overdose may cause methemoglobinemia, cyanosis, dizziness.
Do not apply simultaneously with resorcinol and zinc oxide.
Cosmetic lotion Calamine, the main active ingredients of which are zinc carbonate (calamine) and zinc oxide, has a soothing effect on irritation, itching, relieving inflammation and swelling, disinfecting and cooling. Excipients are koalinite, glycerin, water, sodium citrate (citric acid salt) and phenol (carbolic acid). May contain vegetable and essential oils, camphor, menthol.
It is not a medicinal product. Do not apply to mucous membranes, avoid contact with eyes.
Shake before use. Treat the affected skin with a cotton pad soaked in the lotion, let it dry in the open air. The procedure can be repeated daily not once, but as needed.
PsoEasy lotion, which also belongs to natural cosmetics, is indicated for the treatment of psoriatic and seborrheic lesions of the scalp. It effectively eliminates dry skin and itching, softens and exfoliates the dead layer, and relieves inflammatory manifestations.
The main active ingredients of the lotion are minerals from the Dead Sea, extracts from Mahonia aquifolium, calendula flowers, rosemary and tea tree essential oil.
The lotion is applied to the scalp and lightly rubbed in with massage movements. Daily treatment is carried out for at least 15 days.
The following lotions from China are positioned as natural and non-hormonal preparations. Jie Er Yin lotion consists of ingredients of plant origin only. These are wormwood, sophora, cnidium, gardenia jasminoides. It has pronounced antimicrobial and antipruritic activity, removes inflammatory symptoms and regulates the immune system.
It is recommended to use it in combination with other means, as an addition to the main drug. The effect of the lotion does not extend to psoriatic rashes, but it effectively heals cracks and scratches, eliminates itching and infection.
Li Kan lotion contains borneol, camphor, salicylic and fluoric acids, water without impurity ions and extracts of medicinal plants (almost Fufan, only without the hormonal component).
According to reviews, it has a quick positive effect in just a few days. This brings back memories of the now scandalous Skin-Cap lotion, in which the hormonal ingredient clobetasol (not declared in the composition) was found, which can now explain the amazing effectiveness of the drug. This product is banned in the USA and a number of European countries.

Dosing and administration
Lotions that contain a hormonal ingredient are characterized by rapid action. Reviews say that positive changes begin to appear on the fourth day: the skin becomes softer, stops peeling and itching, sleep is restored. After a week, small rashes disappear, large plaques are no longer so noticeable. After two weeks, psoriatic plaques disappear, only depigmented spots remain.
However, lotions with a hormonal component are not recommended for long-term use (no more than three to four weeks). If a long course of treatment is required, the treatment can be carried out every other day, or after four weeks, take a break for one or two weeks and repeat the course of treatment. It is not advisable to use them on large areas of damage; in such cases, it is recommended to carry out the treatment in stages.

Use psoriasis lotions during pregnancy
The use of psoriasis lotion during pregnancy is not included in the list of contraindications, however, the presence of a glucocorticosteroid component makes it an undesirable drug for pregnant and lactating women.
Contraindications
Hormonal lotions are contraindicated in cases of tuberculosis, syphilis, neoplasms, ulcerations of the skin surface, chickenpox, post-vaccination reactions, acne vulgaris, sensitization to the ingredients of the lotion, and infants. They are not applied to open wounds and mucous membranes.
Side effects psoriasis lotions
Side effects of hormonal lotion for psoriasis may include increased itching and rashes. Long-term use may cause atrophic changes in the epithelial surface, depigmentation, excessive hair growth, acne-like phenomena, folliculitis. Glucocorticosteroids are characterized by the development of reversible suppression of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal system, Cushing's syndrome, and increased blood glucose levels.
So, maybe to achieve quick skin cleansing it is worth using a lotion in which all ingredients are declared honestly - it is better to put up with a familiar evil!
And finally, dermatologists promise a faster and more effective result if you use a lotion (any, including hormonal ones) in combination with enterosgel, which will cleanse the body of toxins from the inside.
