Lindaxa belongs to the subgroup of anorectics drugs with a central type of therapeutic effect. The active component sibutramine leads to blocking the reuptake of bioactive elements (among them norepinephrine with serotonin).

Weight loss is carried out with a pronounced effect that the drug has on the centers of food saturation, which as a result leads to a weakening of the patient's appetite. [1]

Indications Lindax

It is used for obesity in such cases:

  • BMI indicators ≥30 kg / m2;
  • BMI values ≥27 kg / m2, when additional negative factors are also present ( dyslipidemia or type II diabetes mellitus).

Release form

The release of the drug substance is realized in capsules with a volume of 10 mg (30 or 90 pieces each inside the pack) and 15 mg (90 pieces each inside the box).

Pharmacodynamics

The drug does not have a blocking effect on the reuptake of MAO elements, and also does not show an affinity for the main endings (among them histamine, dopaminergic, serotonin, benzodiazepine, and adrenergic). [2]

Pharmacokinetics

The biotransformation of sibutramine is realized inside the liver; in this case, metabolic elements with therapeutic activity are formed.

Indicators of plasma Cmax with 1-time use of drugs are recorded after 1-1.5 hours (for the active element), as well as 3 hours (for metabolic components with therapeutic activity).

The half-life of sibutyramine is approximately 60 minutes; for metabolic substances demonstrating a medicinal effect - within 14-16 hours.

Dosing and administration

First, the medication is used in a daily dosage of 10 mg (1-time use); capsules should be taken with plain water. If during the period of the 1st month of therapy the weight decreases by less than 2 kg, the dose of the drug should be increased to 15 mg. If there is no effect from the introduction of this dosage, the drug must be canceled. In addition, the medication is stopped if, after weight loss, it is further gained by 3+ kg.

Treatment with medication can last a maximum of 1 year, since there is no reliable information regarding the safe use of Lindaxa with longer use.

During the period of therapy, the patient also needs to adjust his lifestyle in order to prevent re-increase in weight after discontinuation of treatment.

  • Application for children

The medicine is not prescribed in pediatrics (until the age of 18).

Use Lindax during pregnancy

You can not use the medication during pregnancy. [3]

Contraindications

The main contraindications:

  • personal hypersensitivity to sibutramine or other elements of the drug;
  • an eating disorder (a history of bulimia or anorexia);
  • obesity caused by organic factors;
  • the presence in the anamnesis or the presence at the moment of mental illness;
  • Ischemic heart disease;
  • use together with MAOIs or during a term less than 14 days after the termination of their intake;
  • administration with antipsychotics, antidepressants, or tryptophan;
  • strokes or TIA;
  • Tourette's disorder;
  • decompensated CHF;
  • congenital anomalies in the development of the heart;
  • tachyarrhythmia or arrhythmia;
  • increased blood pressure (malignant form or poorly controllable);
  • dysfunction of the thyroid gland, in which there is an increased production of hormones;
  • severe renal / hepatic dysfunction;
  • hyperplasia in the prostate;
  • persons over the age of 65.

Side effects Lindax

The development of side symptoms often occurs during the first 3-4 weeks of therapy; they do not require dosage adjustment or drug withdrawal.

Disorders such as constipation, loss of appetite, dry mouth and sleep disorders are common.

Occasionally, dyspepsia, an increase in blood pressure, an increase in heart rate values, signs of vasodilation (fever and facial flushing), hyperhidrosis, anxiety, headaches, exacerbation of existing hemorrhoids and dizziness are observed.

Hemorrhagic vasculitis or nephritis occurs singly, and in addition, the platelet count decreases or the value of liver enzymes increases transiently.

Overdose

Potentiation of the negative manifestations of drugs is among the possible signs of poisoning.

In case of an overdose, it is necessary to excrete the drug from the body as quickly as possible. Gastric lavage is performed, sorbents are prescribed, and symptomatic actions are performed. In the case of a strong increase in blood pressure values or an increase in the pulse rate, it is necessary to use β-blockers.

Interactions with other drugs

Medicines that slow down the effects of CYP 3A4 (this includes erythromycin with troleandomycin, ketoconazole and cyclosporine) can cause an increase in the plasma level of sibutyramine - this must be taken into account when prescribing drugs.

Substances that can induce the activity of the CYP 3A4 enzyme (among them carbamazepine with phenobarbital, rifampicin with dexamethasone and macrolides) increase the rate of Lindax's metabolic processes.

The combination with medications that affect serotonin levels can provoke serotonin intoxication or a serotonin crisis.

It is necessary to very carefully combine the drug with zolmitriptan, individual opiates, as well as sumatriptan and dihydroergotamine.

The likelihood of developing an interaction when using drugs with substances that increase the values of heart rate and blood pressure, as well as drugs with antitussive activity, has been studied very little.

A single use together with alcohol does not cause the development of negative manifestations, but its regular use will have a negative effect, since it contradicts the diet regimen (due to the high level of calories).

The combination with MAOI is completely prohibited. If medication is required, the administration of MAOIs must be canceled at least 14 days before the appointment of Lindaxa.

Storage conditions

Lindaxa should be stored in a dark and protected from moisture penetration; permissible temperature level - maximum 30 ° C.

Shelf life

Lindaxa can be used within a 24-month term from the date of sale of the therapeutic substance.

Analogs

Analogs of drugs are Orsoten, Ponderal with Izolipan, Multisorb and Fepranon with Mirapront, and in addition Fenfluramine, Meridia and Xenical.

Reviews

Lindaxa receives conflicting reviews from patients. The medicine effectively eliminates excess weight, but at the same time it has a large number of contraindications and negative manifestations that do not allow it to be considered completely safe for health.
