Ladybon has estrogen-gestagen therapeutic activity.
Indications Ladybone
It is used to compensate for the lack of estrogens during postmenopause. It is also used to prevent bone fractures or osteoporosis during postmenopause (if other medications prescribed for similar effects are contraindicated).
Release form
The drug is released in tablet form, 28 pieces per blister pack; there are 1 or 3 such packs in a box.
Pharmacodynamics
The drug is classified as anabolic. It has an estrogen-gestagenic and at the same time a slight androgenic effect. During the period of ovarian failure, it stabilizes the hypothalamic-pituitary system and reduces the production of gonadotropic hormones. During postmenopause, it inhibits resorption affecting bone tissue and weakens or eliminates the symptoms of menopause (flushes of blood to the skin on the face, headaches, and hyperhidrosis).
Positively affects libido and mood, stimulates vaginal mucosa, while not causing endometrial proliferation. In women of fertile age, inhibits ovulation. Reduces serum calcium and phosphate levels with ions, and prevents osteoporosis.
Pharmacokinetics
The drug is absorbed at high speed inside the gastrointestinal tract. Blood values of tibolone are quite low, because the substance is quickly subject to metabolic processes; accumulation of the component is not observed. During metabolism, therapeutically active metabolic products are formed.
Excretion occurs with feces and in small quantities with urine (in the form of sulfated metabolic products).
Dosing and administration
Before starting treatment, it is necessary to exclude the presence of malignant tumors in the reproductive system (especially if the patient has bloody discharge).
Taking the tablets begins with the top row of the plate, with the tablet marked with the appropriate day of the week, and then taking into account the days of the week, until the end of the package.
The medication is taken daily (recommended at the same time), 1 tablet per day. It must be swallowed whole, and washed down with plain water, if necessary. For elderly women, no dosage change is necessary. The medication can be used at least 1 year after the last menstruation. If this condition is not met, the likelihood of irregular spotting or bleeding from the vagina increases. In case of surgically induced menopause, the use of the drug should be started immediately.
It is recommended to start treatment of post-climacteric symptoms with the minimum effective dose. The medication should be taken for at least 3 months.
Switching to tibolone from a course of HRT medication should be done immediately after completing the previous treatment regimen (on the following day); if the switch is made from a continuous therapeutic cycle with the introduction of complex HRT medications, you can start using Ladybon on any day.
If you miss a dose of the drug (provided that the interval is less than 12 hours), this dose must be taken as quickly as possible. If the 12-hour interval is exceeded, this dose must be skipped and a new dose must be taken at the standard time. It should be taken into account that frequent missed doses of the drug increase the likelihood of vaginal bleeding.
It is also necessary to take into account that Ladybon is not a contraceptive.
