Release form

Lamisil Dermgel is available in tubes of various volumes: 5 g, 15 g, 30 g. The rigid packaging tube is placed in a cardboard box.

The main active ingredient of Lamisil Dermgel is 1% terbinafine hydrochloride.

Pharmacodynamics

The active substance of Lamisil Dermgel, terbinafine hydrochloride, belongs to the group of allylamines. Terbinafine affects the development of dermatophytes, mold and dimorphic spore microorganisms. It has an inhibitory effect on a number of yeast fungi. Lamisil Dermgel can act as both a fungicide and a fungistatic substance, depending on the type of yeast microorganism.

Terbinafine disrupts the biological synthesis of fungal sterols, which provokes a shortage of ergosterol and leads to the accumulation of squalene in the cellular structures of spore cells due to the inhibition of the enzyme squalene epoxidase. Such changes lead to the death of the fungus. Lamisil Dermgel does not affect the hormonal background of the human body.

Pharmacokinetics

Terbinafine hydrochloride Lamisil Dermgel is absorbed by five percent in case of external use, therefore the absorption of the components of the drug into the bloodstream is minimal.

Dosing and administration

Lamisil Dermgel is used externally only. The drug is used in the treatment of only adult patients and adolescents who have reached the age of 12.

The gel is applied to the area affected by the fungus, which is previously cleaned, degreased and dried. The application is carried out with light massaging movements, in a thin layer.

If the disease is accompanied by diaper rash, doctors advise treating the area with gel, covering it with a sterile napkin on top and fixing it. Such areas usually include the spaces between the fingers and toes, the groin area, the intergluteal region, and the skin in the folds under the breast.

Lamisil Dermgel is used once a day and the best time for treatment is in the evening.

The duration of the treatment course depends on the type of fungus.

  • Interdigital dermatophytosis, candidiasis or athlete's foot - one treatment per day for one week.
  • Versicolor lichen - one to two daily procedures daily for one week.
  • Skin candidiasis of the groin area and the rest of the body - one procedure per day for one week.
  • Onychomycosis - one or two treatments of the affected area per day for six or even twelve weeks. During this period of time, the nail plate should be completely replaced.
  • Dermatophytosis and dermatomycosis of the skin of the body, shin and groin area - one treatment daily for one week.

A visible therapeutic effect is observed after 3-5 days. Irregular treatment of the affected area and early termination of therapy can provoke a relapse of the disease.

If there is no improvement after a week of regular use, you should consult a specialist.

It is necessary to ensure that Lamisil Dermgel does not come into contact with the eyes or other areas of the mucous membrane. If the drug comes into contact with the mucous membrane of the eye, the medicine must be quickly rinsed under running water. If irritation symptoms do not go away, you should consult an ophthalmologist.
