A person who has problems with the intestines feels very uncomfortable: be it diarrhea, loose stools or, on the contrary, constipation. The Ukrainian factory OOO Yuriy-Pharm presents to the consumer a modern, effective natural laxative that perfectly restores the function of the intestines - Lactuvit, the active ingredient of which is lactulose.
People who have encountered this problem themselves can understand how a person with problems with defecation suffers. Modern pharmaceutical companies are trying to help people with this disease. On the shelves of pharmacies there is such a drug as Lactuvit - a high-quality, effective, well-tolerated by the human body remedy, developed and produced on the basis of natural components. You should just remember that you should not prescribe this drug to yourself and prescribe a dosage. This should only be done by a qualified specialist. He is the one who can correctly assess the situation and prescribe effective therapy.
Indications Lactuvit
The drug in question, Lactuvit, was developed by the scientific group of the manufacturing company as a natural laxative drug to normalize bowel function. Many diseases can cause problems with stool. Therefore, the indications for the use of Lactuvit may be as follows:
- Chronic constipation.
- Hepatitis.
- Liver dysfunction.
- Liver encephalopathy.
- Salmonellosis, including the stage when the patient acts as a carrier of the bacteria.
- Precomatose and comatose state associated with liver disease.
- Intestinal dysbacteriosis.
- Cirrhosis.
- Hypercholesterolemia - the level of cholesterol in the blood increases.
- Intoxication of the body of any etiology.
- Haemorrhoids.
- Preoperative period, as a preparatory stage before surgery (if the patient has a problem with stool).
- Postoperative period, to facilitate defecation, to prevent suture divergence.
- For putrefactive dyspepsia syndrome.

Release form
A laxative of natural origin, with the ATX code A06A D11 - Lactuvit - is presented on the pharmacological market in the form of syrup - this is its only form of release. But there is one difference. This drug is produced in two volumes: a 100 ml bottle and a 200 ml bottle.
The main active ingredient is lactulose, of which there is approximately 3.335 g in 5 ml of medicinal liquid.
The active substance of Lactuvit is a model of milk sucrose obtained from whey. Due to its naturalness, the product in question is safe for the human body, but at the same time shows an excellent laxative effect.
The diluent for lactulose is distilled water.
Pharmacodynamics
In essence, Lactuvit is comparable to natural dietary fiber, which is an excellent nutrient medium for lactobacilli and bifidobacteria (the basis of intestinal microflora), the balance of which restores intestinal function. This medication stimulates their growth and reproduction, bringing the imbalance back to normal. When the level of lactobacilli and bifidobacteria is restored, the ability of pathogenic flora to actively reproduce is reduced. Intoxication of the body with the products of their vital activity is also reduced.
The pharmacodynamics of the laxative played a positive role. Thanks to it, Lactuvit enters the large intestine unchanged, without losses, bypassing all previous organs of the digestive tract. Here, lactulose is transformed into organic low-molecular acids that reduce the pH of the environment, and also helps soften feces and activate intestinal peristalsis. When feces are softened, their volume increases, allowing the procedure of natural defecation to be normalized.
In case of liver dysfunction, Lactuvit effectively binds protein breakdown products, which reduces their formation. Due to the decrease in the pH parameter, the activity of
nitrogen-containing toxins is stopped, preventing their absorption into the bloodstream.
Pharmacokinetics
When using a specific medication in the treatment of a particular disease, in addition to pharmacodynamics, the attending physician is also interested in its pharmacokinetics. After all, an important factor in any treatment is the ability of the drug to be quickly absorbed by the mucous membrane or, conversely, to maintain its integrity until it reaches the necessary organ of the human body. And also not the least important is the ability of the body to effectively remove the remains or metabolites of the drug.
The laxative drug Lactuvit, after oral administration, is not absorbed by the gastrointestinal mucosa, but reaches the large intestine unchanged. When the drug is administered in dosages recommended by pharmacologists (in this case, within the range of 40 to 75 ml), the drug is fully processed by bacterial structures and excreted with feces. The percentage of lactulose and its metabolites excreted in urine is quite low and amounts to only 3%. Excretion occurs during the first days after administration.
When higher doses are administered, some of the medication leaves the patient's body unchanged.
Dosing and administration
Any medication, including Lactuvit, is prescribed and prescribed for use only by a qualified experienced specialist. The developers of the drug have only suggested the recommended method of administration and dosage, a more specific schedule of administration and dosage adjustment remains with the attending specialist. Self-prescribing of the medication is unacceptable.
Lactuvit is included in the treatment protocol for adult patients suffering from hard defecation. The starting dosage provides for a volume of 20 ml per day. But if necessary (severe clinical picture or individual characteristics of the human body), this volume can be increased to 30 - 40 ml per day. After the problem is removed, this dosage is gradually reduced to a maintenance daily level of 10 ml.
Doctors and pharmacists of the manufacturing company recommend taking this medicine once a day before the expected meal. It is advisable to choose morning or evening time.
The laxative must be washed down with a glass of liquid. Large volumes of water will improve the work of Lactuvit.
The principles of taking a laxative for children are similar to those described above, with the only difference being that the permissible dosages change, decreasing. So, for children between the ages of six and twelve, doctors recommend giving 5-7.5 ml, twice a day. If the child is not yet six years old, the dosage is even less - 2.5 ml twice a day.
Doctors recommend that the patient start taking the medication with the smallest permissible doses. And only over time, when they stop giving the necessary result, this amount of the drug taken can be increased. The therapeutic effect can be observed several days after the start of the therapy that alleviates the problem. If positive changes are not observed within a couple of days, then we can talk about increasing the required dosage of Lactuvit. It should be remembered that in case of colitis, the duration of the treatment cycle should not exceed a week.
In pre-comatose and comatose liver conditions or encephalopathy, the drug is taken by an adult patient according to a different scheme. The drug is taken three times a day. The starting dose is recommended to be between 30 and 50 ml, but not more than 190 ml daily. After the critical situation has been removed, the dose is reduced to a maintenance level, but is also taken three times a day.
If necessary, the dosage should be increased gradually with a small increment. This will help prevent the appearance of signs of flatulence. If symptoms of diarrhea appear, it is necessary to remove Lactuvit from the treatment protocol and consult with the attending physician.
As for small patients, there is currently no data on the use of the laxative in question for hepatic encephalopathy.
The use of this drug to solve problems with stool does not have a negative impact on the psycho-somatic and physiological reactions of the patient's body, which allows him to safely get behind the wheel of a car and work with complex mechanisms that require increased attention.

Use Lactuvit during pregnancy
Any expectant mother, carrying her baby, in anticipation of its birth, makes every effort to minimize the intake of any pharmacological agent. And this is right, since the active chemical compounds of the drug are capable of influencing the entire body and can harm the fetus developing in her womb. But, as medical studies have shown, the use of the laxative drug Lactuvit during pregnancy is not contraindicated. Due to its natural basis, it is safe for both the woman and her unborn baby.
Doctors give similar recommendations in case of constipation in a woman during the period when she is breastfeeding her newborn baby. The main thing is that all recommendations on dosage and method of taking the medication are followed.
Contraindications
Each pharmaceutical product affects the body of the person taking it to a greater or lesser extent. This is the only way to influence the diseased area, causing the necessary changes. But the human body is a single whole, and by influencing one area, the medicine affects the entire body as a whole. And there is no escape from this.
As practice has shown, despite its natural basis, there are contraindications for use of the drug Lactuvit, which is discussed in this article.
- Individual intolerance of the patient's body to lactulose.
- Hypersensitivity to galactose.
- Lapp syndrome.
- Diabetes mellitus.
- If the patient has a history of galactosemia (impaired conversion of galactose into glucose due to a mutation in the corresponding gene).
- For acute pain syndrome of unknown etiology.
- Stenosis.
- Intestinal obstruction.
- Malabsorption of galactose - glucose.
- For rectal bleeding of unknown etiology.
- Severe dehydration.
- In the presence of nausea and vomiting.
- Elderly patient with a weakened body.
If the patient has at least one of these diseases in his/her medical history, he/she should consult a specialist, perhaps he/she will prescribe another medication or adjust the dosage of Lactuvit.

Side effects Lactuvit
A medicine is a medicine. By producing the necessary effect on the diseased area, the drug invariably affects other systems, organs and processes of the body, which can cause unwanted side effects in the body of the patient undergoing therapy. Lactuvit is no exception. In some cases, its use can provoke:
- Transient flatulence. This may occur during the first few days of the treatment course.
- Cramping in the abdominal area.
- Nausea, sometimes turning into bouts of vomiting.
- Flatulence.
- Intestinal colic.
- Allergic reaction of the body: skin rashes, hyperemia of the skin surface, itching.
If side effects of the drug appear, symptomatic treatment is suggested, and if the dosage is reduced or the drug is discontinued, the pathological symptoms will disappear on their own.
In chronic colitis, when the patient has to take Lactuvit quite often, or even in high doses, all the signs of diarrhea may appear, and electrolyte imbalance occurs. But when the dose is reduced or the drug is discontinued, these pathological symptoms go away on their own.
Interactions with other drugs
If the patient has no other health problems and is taking only Lactuvit, then it is necessary to simply monitor your well-being. Usually, the laxative in question is well absorbed by the body and does not show any negative symptoms. If they do appear, it is necessary to inform your doctor about it.
If Lactuvit is part of a complex treatment protocol, where medications from other different pharmacological groups are prescribed, the doctor prescribing such treatment must be aware of which medications can be combined into one therapeutic protocol, and which, when taken in tandem, can only worsen the situation.
It is important to know the interactions with other drugs and the laxative in question.
Today, the results of mutual administration of Lactuvit and non-absorbable antacids are known. As monitoring of the work of this pair of drugs has shown, in reality, the effect of the laxative is worsened.
A similar picture is observed when working with antibacterial drugs.
In case of tandem use of pH-linked release drugs with a laxative of natural origin, when prescribing the dosage of Lactuvit, it is necessary to take into account its ability to reduce the level of acidity in the intestine.
Storage conditions
In order for the therapy to give the maximum positive shift in stopping the problem, in addition to following all the recommendations of the attending physician, it is worth getting acquainted with and following the storage conditions of Lactuvit. Incorrect content of the drug significantly reduces, or even completely cancels the pharmacological characteristics of the drug.
If you follow all the recommendations, you can be sure that the level of pharmacodynamic indicators of the laxative in question will remain high enough throughout the entire permissible shelf life.
It is necessary to maintain Lactuvit by fulfilling the following requirements:
- The place where the medicine is to be stored must be protected from exposure to direct ultraviolet and other spectrum of sunlight.
- The storage temperature must not exceed the following limits: minimum - 10 degrees, maximum - 25 degrees above zero.
- Do not allow the drug to freeze.
- Laxatives should be kept in places that are inaccessible to teenagers and small children.
Shelf life
When entering the pharmacological market, any product of pharmaceutical companies producing the drug must indicate on the packaging material the date when this medicinal product was produced. Another number is the end date, after which the drug supplied with this instruction should not be used as an effective laxative.
In this case, the shelf life of the natural laxative Lactuvit is two years (or 24 months).
