Carbolong is a coal of plant origin. Special heat treatment of this substance allows to increase its sorption area, which facilitates the absorption of alkaloids with gases, exo- and endotoxins, as well as other chemical compounds.

The medication helps to more effectively synthesize toxic compounds through physical sorption inside the pores with subsequent removal from the body along with the sorbent mass as part of the intestinal contents.

Indications Carbolonga

It is used in cases of acute intoxication with various poisons (industrial, household or food) or medications, as well as poisoning with heavy metal salts and alkaloids. It is also used for food poisoning, bloating and dyspepsia.

Release form

The drug is produced in powder form - inside 5 g packages. The box contains 30 such packages.

Pharmacokinetics

The medication improves blood flow inside the intestine and stimulates its motility. At the same time, Karbolong does not have a toxic effect, is not subject to metabolic processes and is almost not absorbed inside the intestinal lumen.

The drug demonstrates prolonged therapeutic activity (in the range of 36-48 hours) and an intense adsorption effect during the entire period of passage through the gastrointestinal tract, which distinguishes it from simple activated carbon.

Dosing and administration

Taking into account the severity of the poisoning, the prescribed dose is 5-10 g of powder 3 times a day (for an adult), or 2.5-5 g with the same frequency (for a child aged 7-14 years).

The substance should be taken orally, 1.5-2 hours before or after eating or taking other medications, washing down the powder with plain water. In addition, it is taken in the form of a suspension (dissolve 5 g of the drug in half a glass of plain water).

The duration of the treatment cycle is determined by the severity of the poisoning and is 3-15 days.

Contraindications

It is contraindicated for use in cases of severe intolerance to the medication, as well as bleeding inside the stomach and ulcers affecting the gastrointestinal tract.

Side effects Carbolonga

Taking the drug may cause severe intolerance, as well as vomiting and nausea. Its administration may lead to intestinal disorders (constipation or diarrhea), which disappear with symptomatic procedures and drug withdrawal.

Long-term use (over 15 days) sometimes causes absorption disorders, which causes the body to experience a deficiency of hormones, proteins, fats and vitamins; in such cases, alimentary or medicinal adjustments are required.

Overdose

If the permissible single dose of Karbolong is exceeded, nausea, constipation or vomiting may occur.

Interactions with other drugs

Since the drug has an adsorbing activity, it can weaken the effect of drugs taken with it. Because of this, in combination therapy, Karbolong is recommended to be taken 60-90 minutes before or after taking other drugs.
