Ibuprex soft forte belongs to the pharmacotherapeutic group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), in particular, derivatives of propionic (methylacetic) acid.

Indications Ibuprex soft forte

Indications for the use of Ibuprex soft forte are related to its anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic properties and include symptomatic treatment of headaches and toothaches; pain during menstruation; feverish conditions; rheumatic and neuralgic pain, as well as joint and muscle pain in all parts of the musculoskeletal system.

Release form

The drug is available in brown film-coated tablets; each tablet contains 200 mg of ibuprofen. Other trade names of Ibuprex soft forte: Ibuprofen, Bonifen, Brufen, Burana, Dolgit, Ibupron, Ibuprof, Ibusan, Ipren, Marcofen, Motrin, Nurofen, Profen, etc.

Pharmacodynamics

The pharmacodynamics of Ibuprex soft forte is based on the ability of the active substance - isobutylphenylpropionic acid - to inactivate the enzyme cyclooxygenase (COX) and thus inhibit the synthesis of mediators of pain, inflammation and temperature reaction (prostaglandins).

In addition, like all non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, Ibuprex soft forte blocks the activity of platelet cyclooxygenase, improving blood supply in the area of inflammation and preventing the formation of blood clots.

Pharmacokinetics

Once in the stomach after oral administration, Ibuprex soft forte quickly penetrates into the blood by absorption from the gastrointestinal tract. After 1-2 hours after administration, the drug reaches its maximum concentration in the blood plasma and after 3 hours - in the synovial fluid. Biological transformation of Ibuprex soft forte occurs in the liver; metabolites are excreted by the kidneys; the excretion time of half of the macromolecular compounds formed as a result of drug metabolism is approximately 120 minutes. Only 1% of the drug is excreted unchanged.

Dosing and administration

The drug Ibuprex soft forte is recommended for use in the treatment of adults in the following dosage: single dose - 1-2 tablets (200-400 mg) three times a day; maximum daily dose - 6 tablets (1.2 g). The tablets are taken whole, before meals, with water.

Use Ibuprex soft forte during pregnancy

The use of Ibuprex soft forte during pregnancy is possible only on prescription of a doctor, when the benefit to the mother significantly exceeds the potential risk to the fetus. But in the first and second trimesters of pregnancy, the use of Ibuprex soft forte (and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) is not recommended due to the increased risk of developing fetal heart defects (premature closure of the arterial duct).

Contraindications

There are the following contraindications for the use of Ibuprex soft forte:

  • increased individual sensitivity to the drug and intolerance to aspirin;
  • acute stage of gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer;

In the presence of bronchial asthma or other types of allergies, bronchospasm is possible, and in arterial hypertension or heart failure, edema may appear.

Overdose

Overdose of this drug causes pain in the stomach, nausea and vomiting, drowsiness, headache, tinnitus, acute renal failure, drop in blood pressure, abnormal heart rhythms, atrial fibrillation, and respiratory arrest.

To treat an overdose, urgent gastric lavage, oral administration of activated charcoal, alkaline drinks, and diuretics (to increase diuresis) are used.

Interactions with other drugs

The main interactions of Ibuprex soft forte with other drugs are that it should not be taken simultaneously with aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid) or other drugs from the group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).

In addition, Ibuprex soft forte reduces the effectiveness of drugs used to treat hypertension, as well as all diuretics. Concomitant use with anticoagulant drugs increases their antiplatelet effect; with cardiac glycosides - aggravates heart failure; with the immunosuppressant drug cyclosporine - increases the degree of negative impact on the kidneys; with lithium and methotrexate - significantly increases their levels in the blood plasma; with quinolone antibiotics - increases the likelihood of seizures.
