Release form
The drug is released in the form of a lyophilisate, dissolved for parenteral injections. The pack contains 3 ampoules with powder.
Pharmacodynamics
The active ingredient of the drug is a naturally occurring chorionic gonadotropin secreted from the urine of a pregnant woman. After obtaining this component, it must be sterilized and purified. Its properties are similar to those of lutropin secreted by the anterior pituitary lobe, but it differs in that it has a higher efficiency (due to a longer half-life).
In male patients, the drug stimulates the production of sex steroids (such as testosterone with estradiol, as well as 2-hydrotestosterone and 170H-progesterone) and spermatogenesis processes. In female patients, ovulation and estrogen and progesterone binding processes are stimulated. This drug increases blood cholesterol levels.
Pharmacokinetics
Blood Cmax values of the substance are noted after 4-12 hours from the moment of injection. The half-life is about 29-30 hours, due to which, with daily injections, accumulation of the drug may occur. Excretion is performed through the kidneys.
Dosing and administration
The resulting solution of the drug must be immediately administered to the patient via intramuscular injection.
Boys and adult men, in case of differential diagnosis of cryptorchidism, as well as anorchia, require a single administration of 5000 IU of the drug.
In case of hypogonadism of a hypogonadotropic nature, it is necessary to use within 1500-6000 IU of the substance once a week, combining it with medications that contain natural menopausal gonadotropins.
To speed up the process of puberty, 1500 IU of the drug should be used 2-3 times a week for a period of 90 days.
For boys aged 2-6 years, 500-2000 IU of Choragon are administered weekly for 5 weeks to treat cryptorchidism. For children aged 3-6 years, 1500 IU of the drug should be used once a week for 21 days.
Women need to administer 1500-5000 IU of the drug on the 3rd, 6th and 9th days after ovulation to maintain the activity of the corpus luteum of the ovaries. To induce ovulation directly, 5000 or 10000 IU of the drug is used.
