Hondroflex is included in the category of NSAID medications. Contains the active element chondroitin sulfate.
Indications Hondroflex
It is used to treat people with localized pathologies affecting the spine and joints and having a degenerative-dystrophic nature (including osteoarthritis with osteochondrosis).
Release form
The drug is released in the form of an ointment, in tubes of 30 g. The package contains 1 such tube.
Pharmacodynamics
Hondroflex has an anti-inflammatory and chondroprotective effect. It contains the active element chondroitin sulfate, which affects the metabolism of phosphorus with calcium and prevents the degeneration of cartilage tissue. The substance inhibits the process of bone tissue resorption, and also prevents the compaction of connective tissues and helps improve the production of fluid contained inside the joints.
The medication improves joint mobility, participates in the formation of bone and cartilage tissue, and in addition protects the latter from damage and improves regeneration processes.
After external treatment, the substance slows the progression of osteoarthritis, reduces inflammation and pain in the joints and improves the condition of patients.
The anti-inflammatory effect of the drug develops by acting on the inflamed area of the cell, stimulating the binding of proteoglycans to hyaluronic acid, and in addition, by suppressing the activity of proteolytic enzymes.
The dimethyl sulfoxide contained in the drug promotes deeper penetration of chondroitin into the epidermal layers.
Chondroitin sulfate is a high molecular weight mucopolysaccharide (its molecular weight is about 20,000-30,000).
Pharmacokinetics
Plasma values of Cmax of chondroitin with external treatment develop after 3-4 hours, and inside the synovium this indicator is noted after 4-5 hours. The level of bioavailability after external application is 13%.
Excretion of chondroitin occurs primarily via the kidneys.
Dosing and administration
Hondroflex is used for external treatment. The medicine should be applied in a thin layer to the epidermis in the area of inflammation. Do not allow the medicinal substance to come into contact with areas of the epidermis whose integrity is compromised, as well as with mucous membranes. After finishing the treatment procedure, wash your hands thoroughly.
The duration of the treatment cycle and the sizes of the dosage portions are selected by the attending physician. Often, 2-3 ointment treatments per day are prescribed.
On average, treatment usually lasts 14-21 days. If necessary, and provided that the patient tolerates the treatment without complications, the course can be extended with the permission of the attending physician.
