Pharmacodynamics

In the treatment of dry eye membranes, the main thing is to increase the volume and stability of the precorneal film of tear fluid. It was found that hyaluronate, which is contained in the drops, has a molecular weight, chemical properties and rheological characteristics that are similar to mucin, a component of human tears. The properties of hyaluronate allow it to moisturize the eye membrane without having a negative effect on vision. At the same time, the ability of the substance to bind water makes it possible to keep the ocular surface moist.

After local use, hyaluronate increases the stability of the precorneal film, has a positive effect on the epithelial layer, and also increases the moisture of the cornea and the volume of tear fluid, and reduces tear evaporation from the ocular surface.

Pharmacokinetics

Sodium hyaluronate is not absorbed when used locally. There is no information that this substance is able to pass through the cornea. Even when the substance is directly instilled into the intraocular chamber, only very small amounts of hyaluronate were found in the systemic bloodstream, which were metabolized in the liver quite quickly. As a result, one should not expect the development of general toxic manifestations when using the drug.

Dosing and administration

The medicine is usually instilled in the amount of 1 drop in each eye 3 times a day. If necessary, it is allowed to increase the frequency of procedures. However, a significant increase in frequency (for example, more than 10 times a day) is possible only with the prescription of an ophthalmologist and only under his supervision.

The duration of the course is determined individually, taking into account the indications.

Use Hilo dresser during pregnancy

Controlled tests regarding the effects of the drug on lactating and pregnant women have not been conducted.

However, Hilo-Comod drops are allowed to be used during this period, since they do not have a systemic medicinal effect.

Contraindications

Contraindication is intolerance to any of the components of the drug.

Side effects Hilo dresser

Since the drops do not contain preservatives, they are well tolerated even in case of prolonged use. Only occasionally there were reports of side effects such as hypersensitivity reactions, including burning, itching, redness and irritation, as well as swelling of the eyelids or lacrimation. These disorders immediately disappeared when the drug was discontinued.

Interactions with other drugs

The drug should not be combined with other ophthalmological agents. If such a combination is necessary, the drugs should be instilled at intervals of at least half an hour. It should be taken into account that ophthalmological ointments are always applied last.

Since after local ophthalmological use the drug immediately enters the target organ and has primarily a physical effect (moisturizes the ocular surface), without having a systemic effect, any pharmacological interactions of the drug, other than physical interaction with other eye drops, should not be expected.

Storage conditions

Store drops out of reach of children. Temperature indicators – maximum 25°С.

Shelf life

Hilo-comod is suitable for use for a period of 3 years. But after opening the bottle, it is allowed to use it for no more than six months.
