Pharmacodynamics
Herbal preparations for menopause can help women eliminate some vegetative-vascular disorders, such as hot flashes, excessive sweating, nervousness, mood swings, sleep disorders, etc. Such disorders develop as a result of suppression of the production of pituitary hormones, which in turn affects the production of LH - luteinizing hormone. The listed substances are necessary, among other things, to normalize the work of the thermoregulatory centers of the brain. Such reactions are also represented by the participation of other mediators - for example, adrenaline and serotonin.
Until now, the therapy of choice in such cases has been hormone replacement therapy with estrogen and gestagen-containing medications. However, such drugs, despite their unconditional effectiveness, have a large number of side effects. In addition, it has been proven that hormone therapy increases the risk of breast cancer, thrombosis, strokes and cardiovascular pathologies.
For this reason, scientists began to actively search for new drugs based not on direct hormonal action, but on the influence of plants on the course of the climacteric process.
Herbal preparations for alleviating the symptoms of menopause are currently represented by a fairly diverse composition: it can be soy, clover, black cohosh, cimicifuga racemosa. The action of such components is explained by the presence of phytoestrogens in plants, as well as substances that change the sensitivity of estrogen receptors.
Let us consider the pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics of herbal preparations for menopause using the drug "Klimadinon" as an example.
This herbal medicine is prescribed for the treatment of climacteric syndrome. It has estrogen-like properties. Klimadinon also has a sedative effect, so it has a beneficial effect on the nervous system of women after 45 years.
By taking this herbal preparation, a woman can completely get rid of the main symptoms of menopause. Please note that any medications can only be taken after consultation with your doctor. The therapeutic effect of Klimadinon usually occurs two weeks after the start of treatment.
Dosing and administration
As a rule, the effect of taking herbal preparations during menopause develops gradually: over several days or even weeks. For this reason, treatment with herbal preparations is usually quite long - at least 1-2 months in a row.
The daily amount of medication and its dosage depend on each individual drug. In addition, the dosage of some herbal preparations can be adjusted depending on the patient's well-being.
It is not recommended to take any herbal remedy without a doctor's supervision for more than 3 months.
Before starting treatment, it is important to carefully read the instructions and dosage of the medication.
