Gidazepam is a psycholeptic drug used in the treatment of psychoneurotic disorders.

The drug is a benzodiazepine derivative; it has a selective anxiolytic effect and is a moderate daytime tranquilizer. The drug combines antidepressant effects, as well as activating and anxiolytic effects. The drug has low toxicity and causes a minimum of side effects. When used in moderate doses, it does not have a hypnotic effect and does not increase the rate of fatigue. [ 1 ]

Indications Hydazepam

It is used as a daytime drug for psychopathic asthenia and neurotic disorders. It can also be used before a surgical procedure or painful operation that provokes a feeling of anxiety and fear.

In addition, the medication is prescribed in cases of emotional instability and aggressive behavior, as well as as a supportive agent in the treatment of alcoholism.

Release form

The medicinal substance is released in the form of tablets - 10 or 20 pieces inside a cell pack; inside a box - 1 or 2 packs.

Pharmacokinetics

Gidazepam is absorbed into the body at a fairly high speed, and its effect develops after 40-60 minutes. It reaches its highest efficiency and Cmax after 1-4 hours, and then its effect decreases. The effect of sublingual tablets begins after 15-20 minutes. [ 2 ]

The drug has a high level of bioactivity - it penetrates into the kidneys, fatty tissues, liver; only the dealkylated metabolic element is registered in the blood plasma. The half-life is 86.7 hours; the average retention rate is 127.32 hours.

Dosing and administration

Depending on the type of tablet, they are either taken orally or dissolved under the tongue. The portion size is the same for both types. The medication is used in a dosage of 20-50 mg, 2-3 times a day. The portion can be increased, sometimes it is brought to 0.2 g per day, although the optimal portion is considered to be 0.1 g.

For asthenic, depressive or hypochondriacal disorders, it is necessary to use 0.06-0.12 g of the medicine per day.

For alcohol withdrawal, 50 mg of the drug is taken 3 times a day; the daily dose can reach 0.5 g.

The therapeutic cycle lasts for 1-4 months; the exact period is selected individually by the attending physician.

It is prohibited to prescribe in pediatrics.

Use Hydazepam during pregnancy

The medicine should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Contraindications

Main contraindications:

  • severe myasthenia;
  • severe renal/hepatic dysfunction;
  • severe intolerance to the components of the drug;
  • use in the treatment of open-angle glaucoma;
  • alcohol-induced liver damage;
  • hypolactasia.

Side effects Hydazepam

Side effects include:

  • lethargy, drowsiness, systemic weakness, deterioration of work capacity and attention, headache and dizziness;
  • nausea, decreased blood pressure, decreased reaction speed;
  • muscle weakness;
  • Quincke's edema, allergy symptoms and dermatitis.

Overdose

In case of drug overdose, symptoms characteristic of tranquilizer poisoning are observed: drowsiness, lethargy, nausea, dizziness, allergy, and also mild ataxia. Symptomatic procedures are carried out to eliminate them.

Interactions with other drugs

Gidazepam can potentiate the activity of certain medications, such as phenamine or 5-hydroxytryptophan. It also potentiates the effects of neuroleptics, alcohol, opioid analgesics and certain sleeping pills.

The medication can be combined with some sleeping pills, anticonvulsants and psychotropic substances.

Storage conditions

Gidazepam should be stored in a place closed from sunlight and small children. Temperature values are no more than 25 °C.

Shelf life

Gidazepam can be used for a 4-year period from the date of production of the therapeutic drug.

Analogues

Analogues of the drug are Grandaxin and Sibazon with Neurol.
