Gepon is an immunostimulant drug. It helps stimulate the production of interferons, and along with this, the activity of macrophages. It also inhibits the production of cytokines and viral replication in HIV, common herpes and hepatitis type C. It increases the body's resistance to bacterial and viral infections.
The drug has become quite widely used in recent years. It is included in combination therapy for severe (with regular relapses) pathologies caused by the action of simple herpes virus, papillomavirus, mycoplasma with chlamydia, and Candida fungi. [ 1 ]
Indications Hepon
It is used for the following disorders:
- candidiasis affecting the nails and epidermis;
- prevention of the development of candidiasis in the mucous membranes;
- conditions associated with immunodeficiency;
- balanoposthitis or urethritis;
- HIV infection;
- damage to the urinary tract.
Release form
The drug is released in the form of a liquid for oral administration or external treatment - 0.02% and 0.1%. The kit also includes a syringe.
It is also available as a lyophilisate for making solutions – inside vials with a capacity of 1, 2 or 10 mg. The kit contains a dropper tip or a sprayer, and also a solvent.
Pharmacodynamics
In people infected with HIV, the drug reduces blood viral concentrations and stimulates the activation of immune actions. Patients experience potentiation of antibody production against HIV antigens and substances that provoke the development of opportunistic infections. The clinical manifestation of this effect is the absence of relapses of infection in a 4-6 month period.
When applied locally, it demonstrates anti-inflammatory activity. After just 2 days of use, swelling and soreness of the epidermis with mucous membranes, as well as hyperemia, are reduced.
Dosing and administration
The medicine is used locally or orally. When using powder, it must be dissolved beforehand.
In case of immunodeficiency, an adult needs to take 10 mg of the substance orally once a day for a period of 1-3 months.
For a common herpes virus, 2 mg of the substance is taken orally (dissolved in 5 ml of water). This liquid should be held in the mouth for 5 minutes, then swallowed. The medication should be taken for 3-5 days. Local application - use in the form of a cream, which is made independently: mix 2 mg of dissolved LS liquid with 10 g of regular baby cream. You can also locally treat the epidermis and mucous membranes using a 0.04% solution (once a day).
In case of candidiasis in the area of mucous membranes and epidermis, 3 irrigations are performed with 2-3-day breaks.
During the treatment of balanoposthitis or urethritis, the medicine is instilled into the urethra 3 times, at 2-3-day intervals.
To prevent the development of candidiasis in the mucous membranes, they are irrigated together with antibiotic treatment.
In case of cervicitis or vulvovaginitis, irrigation of the mucous membranes of the genitals or application of lotions to the infected areas is performed. The frequency of use is similar to that indicated above.
When treating ARVI, you need to dissolve 2 mg of Gepon in 2 ml of water, then instill 5 drops of this liquid into the nostrils, 2 times a day over a 5-day period.
To prevent respiratory diseases, you need to put 1 drop of liquid (made at the rate of 2 mg of the drug per 2 ml of plain water) into your nose, 3 times a day for a 1-month period.
In case of intestinal dysbacteriosis, microclysters are performed, which contain 2 mg of the drug per 30-40 ml of added saline solution. The cycle includes 5 procedures, which are performed every other day.

Reviews
Gepon receives many positive reviews from various patients. Mostly, comments are made regarding its use in cases of vulvovaginitis or candidal vaginitis - improvement of the condition was observed after only 3 irrigation procedures.
In the case of epidermal erysipelas, which develops with regular relapses, a positive effect was also observed - the frequency of relapses decreased and the rate of recovery increased.
There are also reviews regarding the application of medication to the affected areas after removal of the papillomavirus - the medicinal effect ensured a reduction in the number of relapses.
In addition, Gepon is also used in pediatrics. It was prescribed for oral use and irrigation of the pharynx in case of persistent herpesvirus infection. Along with this, the drug was part of a combination therapy for intestinal infections in children of adeno- and rotavirus genesis.
In case of chronic pharyngitis or rhinosinusitis, irrigation was performed in the pharynx area and spraying of the drug into the nostrils. Three irrigations were enough to improve the condition.
When using the medication in children with bronchial asthma, there was a decrease in the frequency of exacerbations of the underlying pathology and the incidence of various acute respiratory viral infections.
