Hepa-Merz has hepatoprotective properties and belongs to the category of hypoazotemic drugs.

Indications Hepa-merca
It is used in the following conditions:
- liver pathologies (including acute or chronic stages), against the background of which hyperammonemia is observed;
- encephalopathy in the liver area.
As part of a combination treatment for disorders of consciousness (pre-comatose state or full coma). Together with this, the drug is used as a corrective supplement in the therapeutic nutritional diet of people with protein deficiency.
Hepa-Merz can be administered to eliminate poisoning in case of alcohol intoxication.
Release form
The substance is produced in the form of granules for the production of medicinal liquid, which are packaged in 5 g sachets. A separate box contains 30 such sachets.
It is also sold as a concentrate in 10 ml glass ampoules. There are 10 such ampoules in a pack.

Pharmacodynamics
The active component of the drug, ornithine aspartate, is a participant in the processes of biosynthesis of carbamide from ammonia (Krebs-Henseleit cycle), and at the same time helps to produce insulin with STH. In addition, the substance accelerates protein metabolism processes, improves liver function (detoxification effect) and reduces blood ammonia levels.
Pharmacokinetics
The active element of Hepa-Merz is absorbed at high speed inside the stomach, entering the blood through the intestinal epithelium.
Excretion occurs with urine.
Dosing and administration
Gepa-Merz should be taken after meals. To prepare a single dose of the medicine, dissolve 1 sachet-packet containing 5 g of medicinal granulate in ordinary warm water (0.2 l).
The infusion fluid is administered intravenously in a portion of 20 g (4 ampoules of the substance are required) per day. The average daily maximum permissible value, to which the portion can be increased, is 40 g (8 ampoules of the drug).
Use Hepa-merca during pregnancy
Pregnancy is not an absolute contraindication to the use of the drug, but it should be used during this period only under the supervision of a doctor.
Breastfeeding must be discontinued during therapy.
Contraindications
It is contraindicated to use the medication in case of kidney dysfunction (blood creatine levels are 3 mg/100 ml).

Side effects Hepa-merca
Side effects when using the drug develop only occasionally. Among the disorders are vomiting, allergic rash on the epidermis or nausea.

Overdose
Hepa-Merz intoxication manifests itself in the form of potentiation of the negative symptoms of the drug.
If disorders develop, the medication is first discontinued, followed by gastric lavage, symptomatic procedures, and the patient is prescribed activated charcoal.
Shelf life
Hepa-Merz can be used within a 5-year period from the date of production of the drug.
