Release form
Available in capsules, drops and syrup form.
Gedelix eucaps is available in 10 capsules per blister pack. The pack contains 2 or 5 blister strips.
Gedelix drops without alcohol - is available in the form of a solution in a 50 ml dropper bottle. Inside a separate package is 1 bottle with a solution.
Gedelix cough syrup is contained in a 100 ml bottle. Inside the pack there is 1 bottle with syrup, as well as a measuring spoon.
Pharmacodynamics
Gedelix is of plant origin. It contains a thick extract of ivy leaves. In case of inflammation in the respiratory system, this component has an antispasmodic effect and helps to thin phlegm. This happens due to the properties of glycoside saponins, which are contained inside ivy leaves.
Under the influence of the drug, irritation of the gastric mucosa occurs, as a result of which the secretory glands of the bronchi (on the bronchial mucosa) are subject to reflex stimulation by sensitive receptors of the parasympathetic system.
Dosing and administration
Children aged 12 years and over and adults take 1 capsule 2-3 times a day (swallow whole, without chewing, with 0.5 glass of water).
If symptoms of the disease persist for more than 3 days of treatment or the patient's condition worsens (with the development of respiratory failure, an increase in temperature, the appearance of purulent or bloody sputum), it is necessary to consult a doctor.
It is recommended to drink Gedelix syrup without diluting it, but with water after taking a portion. Taking the medicine does not depend on eating food.
The duration of the therapeutic course depends on the severity and type of pathology, but even with a mild form of the disease in the respiratory system, the course should last at least 7 days. After the signs of the disease disappear, it is necessary to continue the therapy for another 2-3 days.
The duration of use of the syrup without medical consultation cannot exceed several days.

Use Gedelixa during pregnancy
Since there is not enough information regarding the use of Gedelix during pregnancy, it is prohibited to take it during this period of time.
Contraindications
Syrup and drops should not be prescribed to children under 2 years of age, because there is a possibility of worsening their symptoms of the disease. Also, syrup with drops should not be taken in case of hypersensitivity to the elements of the drug or other plants from the Araliaceae group, as well as in case of urea metabolism disorder. It is also prohibited to take in case of hereditary fructosemia.
Capsules are contraindicated:
- in children under 12 years of age;
- in case of intolerance to eucalyptus oil and other components of the drug;
- in the presence of inflammation in the area of the gallbladder and digestive tract;
- severe liver pathologies;
- in whooping cough, acute laryngitis, bronchial asthma or other respiratory diseases in which severe hypersensitivity of the respiratory tract is observed.
Side effects Gedelixa
The use of the drug may cause the development of the following side effects:
- immune disorders: isolated manifestations of allergies develop (mainly in the form of a rash), including dyspnea, angioedema, urticaria with exanthema, as well as rosacea and itching;
- Gastrointestinal manifestations: rarely, people with intolerance may develop gastrointestinal disorders, including vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea and nausea.
Overdose
Symptoms of overdose of syrup may include vomiting, gastroenteritis, nausea and diarrhea, as well as a feeling of agitation. Treatment is symptomatic.
Taking too many capsules may cause gastrointestinal disorders (symptoms listed above), as well as CNS disorders (including dizziness, drowsiness, headaches, speech disorders, and in some cases, seizures). Symptoms also include heartburn, delirium, and suffocation, as well as cyanosis, ataxia, muscle weakness, and miosis.
Signs of severe intoxication include cardiogenic collapse, coma, and uneven, shallow breathing.
People who took 30 ml of eucalyptus oil experienced cardiac arrhythmia. There is also information about a single disorder in kidney function with the development of hematuria and anuria with albuminuria (in case of taking 120-220 ml of the substance).
Therapy is symptomatic. There is no information on a specific antidote. Since there is a risk of aspiration, inducing vomiting is prohibited. It is necessary to provide the victim with the necessary amount of fluid in the body (excluding alcohol and milk, because these drinks can cause resorption of the active components of the capsules into the blood).
The use of any medicinal methods depends on the clinical signs and the amount of the drug consumed. If a small amount of the drug is consumed and the person does not show signs of intoxication (or if there is only vomiting and slight dizziness), simple observation of the health condition for a period of several hours will be sufficient.
When using large amounts of drugs or when severe clinical manifestations occur, gastric lavage is required after the tracheal intubation procedure. Then activated charcoal is required, and if spasms occur, diazepam. In addition, kidney function should be monitored.
Interactions with other drugs
When testing animals, cineole, the main component of eucalyptus oil, had a stimulating effect on the process of liver enzyme metabolism. As a result, a weakening or reduction in the effectiveness of other drugs may be observed. Similar reactions are currently observed with pyrazolone and barbiturates, as well as sleeping pills, painkillers and anticonvulsants.
Storage conditions
Gedelix must be kept out of the reach of small children, under standard conditions. Temperature values are a maximum of 25°C. It is prohibited to freeze the medicine in the form of drops and syrup.
Shelf life
Gedelix in capsule form can be used for a period of 3 years, and syrup with drops - for a period of 5 years from the date of release of the medicine. After opening the bottle with drops/syrup, the shelf life of the medicine is a maximum of six months.
