Hederin is a medicine used for colds and coughs. It belongs to the category of expectorants.

Indications Guederina

It is used for inflammatory processes in the respiratory system (acute type), in which cough is observed. In addition, the medicine is taken to eliminate symptoms that arise against the background of chronic bronchial diseases of an inflammatory nature.

Release form

Released as a syrup in 90 ml bottles or jars. Inside the pack there is 1 bottle or jar complete with a measuring spoon or dosing cup.

Pharmacodynamics

The medicine is of plant origin. The main bioactive components of ivy leaves are glycoside saponins, which potentiate the excretory function of the bronchial glands, and in addition have an expectorant, secretolytic, tonic, and also a general strengthening effect.

The content of pectins with resins, as well as essential oil and tannins, allows the medicine to have anti-inflammatory, disinfectant and wound-healing effects.

Dosing and administration

The bottle with syrup must be shaken before each use.

Take orally in the following dosages:

  • children 2-6 years old – take 2.5 ml of medicine three times a day;
  • children 6-10 years old – take 5 ml of the drug three times a day;
  • Children over 10 years of age and adults – take 5-7.5 ml three times a day.

Use the supplied dispenser to measure the dose.

The medication is taken in the morning, as well as during the day and in the evening.

The doctor prescribes the duration of therapy individually. In case of mild pathology, the course lasts no more than 7 days. In order to obtain a stable medicinal effect, it is recommended to continue treatment for another 2-3 days after the patient's condition improves.

If there are no signs of improvement, you should consult your doctor regarding further treatment.

Use Guederina during pregnancy

Since there is not enough information regarding the use of the drug during pregnancy, it is prohibited to prescribe it during this period.

Contraindications

Among the contraindications:

  • hypersensitivity to the components of the drug or other plants belonging to the Araliaceae group;
  • children under 2 years of age, because there is a risk of worsening the course of the disease;
  • the patient has fructosemia.

Side effects Guederina

People with drug intolerance may develop side effects in the form of allergic reactions (mainly skin rashes), including rosacea and swelling of the mucous membranes, as well as dyspnea and urticaria. In addition, gastrointestinal disorders develop - vomiting, abdominal pain and nausea with diarrhea.

Overdose

If a patient develops an overdose (taking a drug in an amount that exceeds 3 times the dosage), vomiting, a feeling of agitation, diarrhea and nausea may occur.

Hederin should be kept out of the reach of children, at a temperature not exceeding 25°C.

Shelf life

Hederin can be used for a period of 5 years from the date of production of the syrup. However, after opening the bottle/jar, it is suitable for use only for a period of 6 months.
