Gaviscon mint tablets belong to the antacid group of drugs. The main action of the tablets is aimed at treating acid-dependent gastrointestinal diseases by reducing the aggressive action of hydrochloric acid in the stomach.

The most well-known antacid is baking soda, which has been widely used to relieve heartburn and stomach pain. However, according to experts, baking soda, like a number of similar absorbable antacids, has a number of side effects and is contraindicated for treatment.
