Indications Gabantine 300

Gabantin 300 is indicated for epilepsy, seizures in adults and children over 12 years of age, neuropathic pain, migraine.

Pharmacodynamics

The drug Gabantin 300 is an analogue of GABA. The final mechanism of action is still unclear. It is only structurally similar to GABA. It does not interact with sodium channels and binding sites.

Pharmacokinetics

The drug is rapidly absorbed. Its bioavailability is 60%. The maximum concentration of Gabantin 300 is achieved after 3 hours. It is excreted unchanged by the kidneys after 5-7 hours. It is excreted during hemodialysis.

Dosing and administration

Gabantin 300 is used regardless of food. Treatment begins with a dose of 300 mg, gradually increasing the daily dose to an effective one - 900-1800 mg, dividing it into three doses.

Children aged 8–12 years. Treatment begins with a dose of 10–15 mg/kg/day. The effective dose is 25–30 mg/kg/day (in 3 doses).

Use Gabantine 300 during pregnancy

Do not use during pregnancy or breastfeeding as it penetrates the placenta and into milk.

Contraindications

Gabantin 300 is contraindicated in case of sensitivity to gabapentin, during pregnancy, lactation and in children under 8 years of age.

Side effects Gabantine 300

From the nervous system, drowsiness, ataxia, nystagmus, tremor, headache, depression, impaired consciousness, paresthesia and anxiety are possible.

From the gastrointestinal tract, dyspepsia, vomiting, appetite disorders, constipation and pancreatitis occur.

From the blood side – leukopenia.

Tinnitus, urinary incontinence, rhinitis, rash, fever, purpura, swelling, discoloration of tooth enamel, and fluctuations in blood sugar may also occur.

Overdose

Gabantin 300 can be removed by hemodialysis. Diarrhea and speech impairment are possible.

Interactions with other drugs

The drug does not bind to plasma proteins, so the likelihood of interaction is low. It does not affect the effectiveness of oral contraception. Gabapentin is taken no earlier than 2 hours after taking antacid drugs.

Storage conditions

Gabantin 300 should not be stored in the sun or at temperatures above room temperature.
