Indications Gabagamma 300.
Gabagamma 300 is prescribed by the attending physician to patients (children over 12 years old and adults) with a history of epilepsy with paracetamol seizures, both as a separate drug and in combination therapy. Pharmacodynamics
The active substance (gabapentin) of the drug Gabagamma 300 is similar in structure to the neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid, but its mechanism of action is completely opposite to drugs acting on GABA receptors. A detailed study of the principle of action of the active substance revealed that gabapentin does not have GMAKergic properties (unlike other antiepileptic drugs - valproate, barbiturates), and its action consists in binding to the subunits of calcium channels, thus reducing the flow of calcium ions and neutralizing neuropathic pain. Gabapentin also increases the amount of gamma-aminobutyric acid, reduces damage and death of neurons, suppresses the release of monoamine neurotransmitters.
Pharmacokinetics
The peak concentration of the drug Gabagamma 300 in the blood plasma occurs after 2-3 hours. A decrease in the absorption of gabapentin is noted with an increase in the dosage (at a normal therapeutic dosage, its absorption is approximately 60%). The dependence of the elimination of the drug Gabagamma 300 on the dosage used has not been identified and is approximately 5-7 hours. The drug is excreted by the kidneys in a completely unchanged form. The absorption of the active substance gabapentin does not depend on the consumption of food, fats and other types of nutrients. In human blood, namely plasma, gabapentin is in a free state. The rate of elimination of the drug from the blood plasma depends on creatinine clearance. This is why Gabagamma 300 should be prescribed with caution to elderly people and people with chronic or acute renal failure.

Dosing and administration
The drug Gabagamma 300 is prescribed after or during meals with a small amount of liquid. The dosage should be increased gradually over several days until it reaches a therapeutically effective level. Cancellation or switching to another drug should also be done gradually so as not to cause a sudden onset of attacks.
Use of Gabagamma 300 for neuropathic pain
Gabagamma 300 is usually taken throughout the day at equal intervals and in equal doses. Therapy begins with a clinically effective dosage of 900 mg per day (1 tablet 3 times a day). If the result is not achieved, the dosage is increased until the clinical symptoms disappear, but not more than 3600 mg per day.
Use of Gabagamma 300 in epileptic seizures
In case of epileptic disease, the clinically effective dose is from 900 mg to 3600 per day. The dosage is selected individually. Treatment also begins gradually, increasing the dose daily. It should be taken into account that for maximum effectiveness, the drug should be taken with a time interval of no more than 12 hours, in order to avoid seizures.
To prescribe Gabagamma 300 to patients with renal insufficiency, creatinine levels should be monitored in the laboratory. If the clearance is below 30 ml per minute, the drug is prescribed in a minimum dosage of 600 mg per day every other day.
Use Gabagamma 300. during pregnancy
The use of the drug Gabagamma 300 during pregnancy and breastfeeding has not been studied, therefore, to prevent negative effects on the fetus, women in this position should avoid this drug. When breastfeeding, the drug should be taken only if absolutely necessary and after consultation with a specialist. It is advisable to stop breastfeeding during treatment.
Contraindications
Since the drug is excreted by the kidneys, it should be prescribed with caution in dialysis, to people with one kidney, and to patients with acute inflammatory kidney diseases (pyelonephritis, glomerulonephritis). It is highly inadvisable to prescribe the drug for acute pancreatitis. If there is intolerance to any component of the drug Gabagamma 300 (including lactase deficiency), its use should be discontinued. The use of the drug by patients with severe mental disorders may cause deterioration of the condition.

Interactions with other drugs
If you take Gabagamma 300 with morphine at the same time, the concentration of the active substance increases by 44%.
The interaction of Gabagamma 300 with other antiepileptic drugs has not been determined, which allows it to be taken in combination with other drugs.
When taking Gabagamma 300 simultaneously with hormonal oral contraceptives containing ethinyl estradiol and norethindrone, no change in the pharmacokinetics of either class of drugs was detected.
If you take Gabagamma 300 simultaneously with sorbents, a 20% decrease in gabapentin absorption is observed.
