Flavozid has a direct antiviral and antioxidant effect. The drug protects and stabilizes local immune activity of the mucous membranes of the upper respiratory tract, increasing the values of lactoferrin and excretory immunoglobulin A.

Flavonoids contained in the drug can suppress the replication of RNA and DNA of the following viruses: chickenpox, common herpes types 1-2, EBV, and also papillomavirus and CMV.

Indications Flavoside

It is used for the following diseases:

  • infections associated with common herpes (types 1-2), as well as neonatal herpes;
  • herpes type 3 (shingles);
  • infectious form of mononucleosis, developing due to EBV (active or chronic stage);
  • lesions that appear under the influence of CMV;
  • chickenpox;
  • in combination therapy for HIV or AIDS, and also for hepatitis types B and C;
  • prevention and treatment of influenza types A or B, as well as acute respiratory viral infections and pandemic strains.

Release form

The drug is released in the form of syrup, inside glass bottles with a capacity of 60, 100 or 200 ml; inside the pack there is 1 such bottle and a measuring cup.

Pharmacodynamics

Antiviral activity develops by slowing down specific enzymes of the virus: thymidine kinase with reverse transcriptase, as well as DNA polymerase.

The principle of direct anti-influenza effect of drugs is associated with the ability to slow down the action of neuraminidase and RNA binding, and also to induce the binding of internal interferon.

The effect of Flavozid leads to the development of a dose-related binding of internal α- and γ-interferons to normal, physiologically active values, and at the same time increases non-specific resistance to bacterial and viral infections. Long-term daily intake does not lead to the appearance of immune refractoriness: there is no suppression of α- and γ-interferons, stabilization of immune activity is noted. Due to this, long-term treatment can be carried out in chronic and recurrent infections.

When taken orally once, interferon actively binds over a period of 6 days, with maximum values observed on the 2nd day.

The antioxidant effect of the drug develops by preventing the accumulation of lipid peroxidation elements and slowing down the free radical processes. As a result, the cellular antioxidant status is potentiated and poisoning is weakened, which helps to adapt to negative external factors and accelerates the body's recovery after infection.

The drug is an apoptosis modulator that potentiates the activity of apoptosis-inducing ligaments; it helps to accelerate the excretion of cells infected with the virus and prevents the development of chronic pathologies in latent viral infection.

Dosing and administration

The syrup should be used approximately 20-30 minutes before eating; the bottle with the syrup should first be shaken, and then the required portion should be measured out in a measuring cup.

Standard treatment regimen for herpes infection, hepatitis types B, C, as well as chickenpox, HIV and AIDS.

During the first month, you need to take the daily dosage, which is divided into 2 applications:

  • for persons under 1 year of age – 1 ml;
  • for a child 1-2 years old – 2 ml;
  • for a child aged 2-4 years – 3 ml during the 1st-3rd days of treatment, and then (from the 4th day) 6 ml;
  • age group 4-6 years – during the 1st-3rd day, 6 ml, and then 8 ml;
  • age 6-9 years – take 8 ml on days 1-3, and then 10 ml;
  • children aged 9-12 years – 10 ml for 1-3 days, and then 12 ml;
  • teenagers and adults – 10 ml during the period of 1-3 days, and later 16 ml.

In case of infectious mononucleosis, CMV and shingles.

The portion size corresponds to the standard treatment regimen, and the duration of therapy is extended to 3 months. At the same time, after the main cycle is completed, maintenance treatment is carried out (2-4 months), with half the daily dosage taken from the 4th day of standard therapy.

During combination treatment of HIV, AIDS and hepatitis types B and C.

The dose size corresponds to the standard regimen, and the duration is increased to 4-6 months.

For the treatment and prevention of the development of pandemic strains, influenza types A, B, and acute respiratory viral infections.

For prevention, the medication is used for 0.5-1.5 months (especially during an epidemic or in cases of severe morbidity).

Treatment lasts for 0.5 months, but in case of complications of bacterial origin it can be extended to 1 month.

Daily dosages correspond to those indicated in the standard regimen; for prevention, take half a portion once a day.
