Ferretab comp has a hematopoietic effect (in case of iron deficiency in the body).
Indications Ferretab comp.
It is used to treat or prevent the development of iron deficiency conditions (this includes cases with disorders of iron absorption processes, prolonged bleeding, pregnancy, as well as an unbalanced or inadequate diet).
Release form
The substance is released in capsules with a prolonged effect. The pack contains 30 capsules.
Pharmacodynamics
Ferretab comp has properties based on the activity of its constituent components.
Ferrous fumarate is an iron salt required by the body for successful hemoglobin binding. When iron salts are taken orally, the deficiency is quickly compensated for, resulting in a gradual reduction in laboratory and clinical symptoms of anemia (dizziness, fatigue or weakness, as well as tachycardia, pain and dryness of the epidermis).
Thanks to folic acid, the process of formation of erythroblasts with megaloblasts is normalized. It is a participant in the activation of erythropoiesis, and in addition to this, the replication of nucleic acids, myasins with amino acids and purines, and in addition to this, the metabolism of choline. During pregnancy, the substance protects the fetus from various teratogenic effects.
The medicine maintains and restores the necessary iron levels in the blood, and at the same time prevents anemia, miscarriages and premature births. In addition, it helps the healthy mental development of the child (it, in addition to many other factors, also depends on the iron and folic acid levels in the body). The proportion of iron absorbed by the body fluctuates in the range of 5-35%.

Pharmacokinetics
Serum iron actively synthesizes with transferrin, and also participates in the production of cytochrome oxidase, hemoglobin with peroxidase, and in addition to this, myoglobin and catalase. Along with this, it is deposited inside the tissues - under the guise of ferritin.
Excretion occurs through the kidneys and intestines, as well as through sweat.
Most of the folic acid is absorbed in the upper part of the duodenum. Synthesis with proteins is 64%. Metabolic processes occur inside the liver, and excretion is mainly through the kidneys, and partly through the intestines.
Dosing and administration
The medication should be taken orally, on an empty stomach, with plenty of liquid. Often, 1 capsule per day is prescribed.
In case of a significant deficiency of folic acid or iron, the portion is doubled, and sometimes even tripled.
Once the required hemoglobin level is reached, therapy is continued until the ferritin level, which is a criterion for iron deposits in the body, is stabilized. Maintenance treatment should last at least 4 weeks.

Use Ferretab comp. during pregnancy
Ferretab comp can be prescribed during lactation or pregnancy if there are medical indications.
Contraindications
Main contraindications:
- the presence of intolerance to the components of the drug or the capsule itself;
- pathological conditions in which there is an increase in iron levels in the body (aplastic or hemolytic anemia, as well as thalassemia, hemosiderosis or hemochromatosis);
- anemia that is not due to iron or folate deficiency;
- disruption of the processes of iron absorption by the body (megaloblastic, lead or sideroblastic form of anemia).
Side effects Ferretab comp.
The medication is often tolerated without complications. Occasionally, the use of Ferretab comp causes negative symptoms in the gastrointestinal tract, which are transient in nature: a feeling of fullness and heaviness in the stomach, vomiting, constipation and nausea. In addition, signs of allergy may appear.
Overdose
In case of poisoning with a drug, a potentiation of its side effects is observed.
In such cases, ferritin testing is required to determine iron levels. In situations where this level is much higher than the standard norm, iron chelators (for example, Desferal) are used.

Interactions with other drugs
Combination with vitamin C improves iron absorption, while when used with antacids it worsens.
Combined use with tetracyclines should be avoided, as this leads to disruption of iron absorption processes.
Cholestyramine together with sulfasalazine, phenytoin with carbamazepine, and together with phenobarbital with triamterene, and also hormonal contraception, folic acid antagonists with trimethoprim, as well as bread with dairy products, raw cereals with solid foods, eggs and tea - all this reduces the absorption of iron.

Storage conditions
Ferretab comp must be kept at temperatures no higher than 25°C.
Shelf life
Ferretab comp can be used within 36 months from the date of manufacture of the pharmaceutical product.
Analogues
Analogues of the drug are Maltofer with Tardiferon, Biofer with Aktiferrin, as well as Tardiferon and Ferri-Fol with Gyno-Tardiferon.
Reviews
Ferretab comp receives overwhelmingly positive reviews. Only occasionally do you come across comments that talk about negative symptoms (for example, constipation, which develops when taking a dose exceeding 1 capsule per day).
Women who used the drug during pregnancy also have similar opinions about it. Usually, the medication helps to increase low hemoglobin levels, which prevents hypoxia in the fetus. It should also be noted that using the drug during pregnancy often helps to eliminate the problem of constipation.
Among the advantages of the drug is its low cost (in comparison with other medications used in the development of iron deficiency).
