Ferestal is an enzyme medicine that helps improve digestive processes.
Indications Ferestal
It is used in cases of insufficiency of the exocrine activity of the pancreas (in cases of cystic fibrosis, chronic pancreatitis, etc.).
In addition, it is used for inflammatory-dystrophic diseases in the intestines with stomach, gall bladder and liver.
The drug can also be prescribed after irradiation or resection of the above-mentioned organs if there are disturbances in the digestion processes, diarrhea and bloating (as part of complex treatment).
It is also used to improve the digestion process - for people with normal gastrointestinal function in the presence of errors in the diet, and also in cases of chewing disorders, a sedentary lifestyle or forced prolonged immobility.
Ferestal can be used during preparation for ultrasound or X-ray examination of the abdominal organs.
Release form
The substance is released in tablets, in quantities of 10, 20, 30, and also 50, 60, 80 or 100 pieces in a box.
Pharmacodynamics
The medication compensates for the developed insufficiency of the excretory activity of the pancreas and bile excretory activity of the liver.
The enzymes contained in the drug - lipase and amylase with protease - help facilitate the process of digestion of fats and carbohydrates with proteins, due to which they are more fully absorbed in the small intestine.
The enzyme hemicellulose helps break down plant fiber, which also improves digestion processes and reduces the amount of gases formed in the intestines.
Bile extract has choleretic properties. It facilitates the process of fat digestion, and at the same time helps the secretion of lipase through the pancreas.
Dosing and administration
The medication should be taken orally, without chewing the tablet, with plain water. The portion should be taken with food or immediately after eating it.
For an adult - 1-2 tablets 3 times a day. Higher doses can only be used with the doctor's permission.
The duration of the cycle can vary, from a few days (in case of digestive disorders due to errors in the diet) to several months or even years (if regular replacement therapy is required).
Before performing an ultrasound or X-ray examination, you need to take 2 tablets 2-3 times a day (2-3 days before the procedure).
