Pharmacodynamics
Fastum gel has analgesic, anti-inflammatory and anti-exudative effects. The action of the drug is based on inhibition of prostaglandin production. Ketoprofen is able to penetrate through the skin to the site of inflammation, which provides the possibility of local therapy of various problems with joints, ligaments, tendons and muscles, which are accompanied by pain.
Pharmacokinetics
Fastum gel is able to penetrate into the inflammatory focus through the skin. Ketoprofen is absorbed into the blood from the above-mentioned focus at a very slow rate. The percentage of bioavailability of the active substance is no more than five percent. If the dose of the drug used was from fifty to one hundred and fifty milligrams, then the amount of the substance in the blood serum after five to eight hours will be from 0.08 to 0.15 mcg per ml. The substance does not have the ability to accumulate in the body. The half-life is from one to three hours. Ketoprofen binds to serum proteins from sixty to ninety percent. The active substance during metabolism is converted into glucuronide, which is excreted from the body by the kidneys.
