Enzymtal

Enzymtal is an enzyme medicine that helps improve digestive processes. It is a complex medicine that contains elements required for the rapid elimination of dyspepsia, as well as control over abdominal discomfort and bloating.

The medicine helps to stabilize the digestive function and eliminates flatulence with manifestations of dyspepsia. The composition of the drug includes papain and fungal diastase (contains α- and ß-amylase), which have an effect similar to enzymes.

Indications Enzymtala

It is used to eliminate symptoms of bloating and dyspepsia.

Release form

The drug is released in the form of dragees - 10 pieces inside a strip; inside a pack - 1 or 10 such strips.

Pharmacodynamics

Fungal diastase helps improve the digestibility of food containing a large amount of carbohydrates. This is an amylolytic enzyme with a specific effect on the transformation of starch into maltose with dextrose. Deficiency of this enzyme leads to a slowdown in hydrolysis and the formation of the element CO2 (which causes discomfort inside the abdomen). The intensity of the amylolytic effect of fungal diastase, which is contained inside the medicinal dragee, is 1 to 1200 (1 part of the element breaks down 1200 components of boiled starch coming with food).

Papain is a component of plant origin. It is a mixture of enzymes obtained from the juice of unripe Carica Papaya fruits, includes papain with chymopapain and has an extensive proteolytic effect. It can be used in people with reduced or preserved gastric activity aimed at producing acid.

The combined effect of the constituent enzymes of Enzymtal is more intense than the effect of each of them separately.

Simethicone is an inert surface element that does not have toxic properties; it has an antifoaming effect. The basis of the substance is silicon. Due to the influence of this substance, intestinal gas formation is reduced. Its effect develops when the surface tension of gas bubbles that form inside the intestine during bloating is reduced. The released gas is absorbed or excreted naturally. The substance does not change the secretory function of the stomach and the absorption of food components. Simethicone reduces pain associated with severe bloating and the severity of flatulence, and in addition, it significantly improves the condition in case of aerophagia, bloating and absorption, digestion and excretion disorders. All this allows this element to usefully supplement the enzyme components of drugs.

Activated carbon is an enterosorbent. It has a broad surface effect, as well as the ability to adsorb alkaloids with gases, exo- and endotoxins, and other chemical bonds. The substance has a detoxifying and enterosorbent effect, helps to adsorb toxins and gases that appear in digestive disorders, adsorbs poorly soluble elements and reduces the volume of intestinal contents. As a result, it helps to alleviate the condition in case of dyspepsia and flatulence, providing a combined (together with enzymes) effect.

Nicotinamide participates in carbohydrate metabolism processes in the form of a coenzyme. Nicotinamide coenzymes (NAD with NADP) are very important for the functioning of all cells. They are necessary for tissue respiration (is the 1st link in the respiratory chain) and cellular energy exchange. Nicotinamide deficiency is mainly observed in the case of an unbalanced diet in elderly people. The deficiency of the element causes a decrease in gastric acid, due to which the processes of intestinal absorption and digestion change; in addition, such a deficiency can provoke hypolactasia, which often serves as the basis for the appearance of diarrhea.

Pharmacokinetics

The active ingredients of Enzymtal are released inside the stomach half an hour after oral administration of the drug, after which they begin to interact with food.

Papain with fungal diastase, as well as activated charcoal and simethicone, are not absorbed after oral administration.

Only nicotinamide is absorbed within the gastrointestinal tract. Absorption may be impaired in the case of enteritis, ulcers, or lack of acid in the stomach. Nicotinamide passes into all tissues and is excreted unchanged through the kidneys or after intrahepatic conversion (mainly into the element methylnicotinamide).

Dosing and administration

For adolescents over 14 years of age and adults, the dose is 2 tablets 3 times a day (with food). A child aged 7-14 years should take 1 tablet with food, 3 times a day.

The dragee is swallowed whole, without chewing, with plain water.

The duration of the treatment cycle is individually selected by the doctor, taking into account the progression of the pathology.

Use Enzymtala during pregnancy

The medication cannot be used during breastfeeding or pregnancy.

Contraindications

Among the contraindications:

• severe intolerance caused by the influence of the drug's components;
• intestinal obstruction, presence of bleeding or ulcers inside the gastrointestinal tract;
• diseases affecting the digestive system and having an obstructive nature;
• liver dysfunction;
• Due to the presence of aspartame in the composition of the drug, its use is prohibited in people with phenylketonuria.

Side effects Enzymtala

Side effects that appear under the influence of nicotinamide:

• it is possible that allergy symptoms may develop in the form of epidermal hyperemia, rash (spotted, punctate or urticarial), and, at times, itching, idiosyncratic effects or intolerance;
• The use of high doses leads to the development of nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhea, vomiting and exacerbation of ulcers in the gastrointestinal tract; in addition, epidermal dryness, a feeling of warmth in the extremities, arrhythmia, decreased blood pressure, short-term headache and prediabetes are possible.

Disorders associated with activated charcoal:

• nausea, constipation, vomiting, or diarrhea may occur;
• Long-term use of drugs can cause a deficiency of hormones, proteins with vitamins and fats, which requires appropriate drug correction.

Overdose

In case of poisoning with nicotinamide, nausea or vomiting and pain in the abdominal area may occur, as well as potentiation of peristalsis.

Gastric lavage and appropriate symptomatic measures should be performed.

Interactions with other drugs

Activated carbon can reduce the absorption of therapeutic substances in the gastrointestinal tract in the case of such a combination. Because of this, other drugs must be taken 2 hours before or 1 hour after the administration of Enzymtal.

Storage conditions

Enzymtal should be stored in a place out of reach of children. Temperature indicators – no more than 25°С.

Shelf life

Enzymtal can be used within a 2-year period from the date of manufacture of the therapeutic product.

Application for children

Enzymtal is prohibited for use in persons under 7 years of age.
