Indications Ecodax

It is indicated for the removal of dermatomycosis on the legs and other parts of the skin, the development of which is provoked by fungi that are sensitive to the action of drugs. They are also used for diseases complicated by superinfection (gram-positive microbes), with skin candidiasis, mycosis of the nails or auditory canal, and in addition, with pityriasis.

Release form

Available in the form of cream, in tubes of 10 g. One package contains 1 tube of cream.

Pharmacodynamics

The active ingredient is econazole, an imidazole derivative. The drug is an antimycotic with a wide range of effects. It has bactericidal and fungicidal properties.

The action of the active substance is due to the suppression of the biosynthesis of ergosterol, which is a regulator of the permeability of bacterial cell walls. Actively acts against yeast, as well as dermatophytes with mold fungi: trichophyton red, trichophyton interdigital, trichophyton crateriform, microsporum fluffy, Microsporum audouini and Microsporum gypseum, and in addition candida albikans, Torulopsis, rhodotorum, malassassia furfur (Pityrosporum orbiculare), causing pityriasis . Also flaky epidermophyton, aspergillus, cladosporium, Scopulariopsis brevicaulis and individual gram-positive microbes (staphylo- and streptococci, as well as Nocardia minutissima).

Pharmacokinetics

After local application to the skin, the systemic absorption of the active substance will be very weak. Although the bulk of the cream remains on the surface of the skin, the concentrations of drugs are found in the stratum corneum - they are much higher than the minimum drug concentration necessary to eliminate dermatophytes.

Drug concentrations are also observed in the outer skin layer and in the skin itself. Less than 1% of the dose is excreted together with feces, as well as urine.

Dosing and administration

The cream is used externally. For adolescents from 16 years and adults - treatment of injured areas in the mornings and evenings with a thin layer. It is required to wait for the full absorption of the cream.

Wet areas in the folds are required to dry before the treatment, using gauze. During the treatment of mycosis nails, the drug is applied 1 time per day under a sealed bandage.

Treatment is usually carried out within 2 weeks. But in the presence of disease in the highly keratinized areas (on the feet) the course can last for 1.5 months.

Interactions with other drugs

The systemic effect of econazole inhibits the elements of CYP3A / 2C29. But, given the weak absorption of the drug inside the systemic blood flow, the development of significant drug interactions is almost impossible.

When the drug is combined with oral anticoagulants (this is acenocoumarol or warfarin), it is required to carefully monitor the coagulation rates. You may also need to adjust the dose of the latter (sometimes even after the application of the cream).

It is not recommended to use Ecodax with other gynecological drugs (local or intravaginal), made on the basis of mineral or vegetable oils, as well as petroleum jelly.

Do not apply the cream together with condoms or diaphragms, as this interaction weakens their strength, as well as the effectiveness of the drug itself.
