Ecodax is an antimycotic for local use.
[ 1 ]
Indications Ecodax
It is indicated for the elimination of dermatomycosis on the legs and other parts of the skin, the development of which is provoked by fungi sensitive to the action of drugs. It is also used for diseases complicated by superinfection (gram-positive microbes), for skin candidiasis, mycosis of the nails or ear canal, and in addition to this, for versicolor lichen.
Release form
It is produced in the form of a cream, in 10 g tubes. One package contains 1 tube of cream.
Pharmacodynamics
The active ingredient is econazole, an imidazole derivative. The drug is an antimycotic with a wide range of action. It has bactericidal and fungicidal properties.
The action of the active substance is due to the suppression of the biosynthesis of ergosterol, which is a regulator of the permeability of bacterial cell walls. It is active against yeasts, as well as dermatophytes with mold fungi: Trichophyton rubra, Trichophyton interdigitale, Trichophyton crateriformis, Microsporum pubescens, Microsporum audouini and Microsporum gypseum, as well as Candida albicans, Torulopsis, Rhodotorula, Malassezia furfur (Pityrosporum orbiculare), causing versicolor lichen. Also, Epidermophyton flocculosa, Aspergillus, Cladosporium, Scopulariopsis brevicaulis and individual gram-positive microbes (staphylo- and streptococci, as well as Nocardia minutissima).
Pharmacokinetics
After local application to the skin, systemic absorption of the active substance will be very weak. Although the main part of the cream remains on the surface of the skin, drug concentrations are found in the stratum corneum – they are much higher than the minimum drug concentration required to eliminate dermatophytes.
Medicinal concentrations are also observed in the outer skin layer and in the skin itself. Less than 1% of the dosage is excreted in the feces and urine.

Dosing and administration
The cream is used externally. For teenagers from 16 years old and adults - treatment of injured areas in the morning and evening with a thin layer. It is necessary to wait until the cream is completely absorbed.
Wet areas in folds must be dried before the treatment procedure using gauze. During the treatment of nail mycosis, the medicine is applied once a day under a sealed bandage.
Treatment is usually carried out for 2 weeks. But if the disease is present on highly keratinized areas (on the feet), the course can last for 1.5 months.

Use Ecodax during pregnancy
The drug has not been tested for use in pregnant women. Since systemic absorption occurs, it is not recommended for use during pregnancy.
There is no information on whether econazole nitrate penetrates into breast milk. As a result, the use of the cream during lactation is allowed only when the possible benefit to the patient outweighs the risk of adverse reactions in the fetus. It is not recommended to treat the areola or the nipples themselves with the medicine.
The cream does not affect fertility.

Interactions with other drugs
Systemic exposure to econazole inhibits elements of CYP3A/2C29. However, given the poor absorption of the drug into the systemic circulation, the development of significant drug interactions is virtually impossible.
When combining the drug with oral anticoagulants (acenocoumarol or warfarin), it is necessary to carefully monitor blood clotting parameters. It may also be necessary to adjust the dose of the latter (sometimes even after the end of using the cream).
It is not recommended to use Ecodax with other gynecological drugs (local or intravaginal) made on the basis of mineral or vegetable oils, as well as petroleum jelly.
The cream should not be used together with condoms or diaphragms, as such interaction weakens their strength, as well as the effectiveness of the medicine itself.
Storage conditions
The cream must be stored in normal conditions for medicines, inaccessible to small children. Temperature – no more than 30°C. Freezing is prohibited.

Shelf life
Ecodax is approved for use for 3 years from the date of its release.
